Did anyone else see that programme on BBC 4 last night, the one about Carole Shelby's development of the Cobra to beat the mighty Ferrari 250 GTO? Absolute petrolheads heaven, what a genius taking the ACE Ace to the dizzy heights of beating the Ferrari's.

That was a really excellent program (something the BBC can do when it puts it's mind to it). I really liked the way they studied the aerodynamics of the coupe by attaching bits of rope to it while the passenger had to do without a seat. I also never realized the number of Brits involved in Shelby's early years.

'Twas an interesting watch. British chassis + American horsepower = giant killer.

Loved the way they developed the windscreen rake - with a plank of wood and some Duck tape - made me chuckle.
196mph on the Mulsanne in a Daytona Coupe though? Alarming

glad I wasn't the only one to see it and realise what a great production it was. Shelby and friends worked to a relatively low budget to beat the Ferrari's. That coupé was a lovely looking car and I agree with the poster who mentioned the windscreen design process, two bits of wood and some duct tape, absolutely brilliance.
