RE: Spotted: Subaru Impreza R205

Given that the 22B was 40k when it come out back in 1998 I personally think you get a lot more car for your money now days.
Given that ppl in Italy and Germany pay £40k for a standard STI make this a bargain!!
Anyway it's each to there own and everyone is going to have a different opinion which I appreciate.

not at all, its a white goods car that will in many countries be uses as a mini cab, which just so happens to have very fast oily bits
I'm in Holland at the moment, lots of BM and Merc Taxis.Does that also make the M3/M5, AMGSL55 etc etc fast taxis?
lucky holland

in the same way the GTR is not up to 75k+ asking price a scooby is not upto 40k imo
In the same way? You've contradicted yourself there, the GTR is not a white goods vehicle. There's no base GTR sans oily bits lining up a taxi rank somewhere. Other than that, I agree that these cars are pricing themselves out of their original market.in the same way the GTR is not up to 75k+ asking price a scooby is not upto 40k imo
the scooby is a cooking fat car, white goods, euro box car etc and priced accordingly, chuck some fast parts on it and price it sensibly and its a bargain (like renault have), but there's a price point where performance is not the only factor to taken into account by most perspective buyers, 40k is too much
the GTR priced at mid 50s was performance bargain of the year, but approaching 80k and there are other better all round packages
likewise the golf R for 44k for a reasonable spec is laughable money
Oh well, I guess given that I've seen most cars used as a taxi at some point over the years, all fast cars are just fast taxis.
Dave Hedgehog, I am eternally grateful for sharing this divine wisdom with the forum. You should receive some kind of award for alerting the world to the existence of the fast taxi. You are indeed a gentleman and a scholar.

I have to ask what can you get for 80k brand new thats a better package than a GT-R?the scooby is a cooking fat car, white goods, euro box car etc and priced accordingly, chuck some fast parts on it and price it sensibly and its a bargain (like renault have), but there's a price point where performance is not the only factor to taken into account by most perspective buyers, 40k is too much

Genuine question I'm not spoiling for an arguement.

Soon to be seen racing round a council estate near you!!
That is such a dumb ass view of the world I have a 'standard' sti which had the upgrade so running 320hp.
I do about 30k miles a year in it and love it - for me it has everything i need and I like the looks.
Looking at the spec of the car in question against what mine was new seems about right and will make a great car (IMO) a fantastic one.
Don't knock em till you have lived with one is my view..................

if it was my money i would buy a 911, for me (and this is just me) its a better all round package
As much as I like 911s they are the best way of making the GT-R look like a bargain.£7k less and a different level of performance.
anything that runs sub 5s is stupidly fast for a road car

have you driven a normal one? truly bloody awful cars, mediocrity on four wheels
I haven't driven a road one yet, had a spin in a few various rally prepped ones and can't say they are mediocre Will own one, one day! Just not sure what gen/spec, that will all boil down to budget/insurance
