I've looked at this ad a few times now, and to be honest I can't decide if I'd have this or a GTR. Simply because I'd enjoy the fact it seems to be more of a hooligan car, and it's rarer than a GTR. Can't remember the last time I saw an STI hatch on the road.

S3 is a great motor by the way!!

That's another thing I love about the Impreza it reminds me of a time when I couldn't afford the likes of R8's and 911's.........you could say it brings you back down to earth.
haha... on a much lesser scale its a bit like me and my old Micras! Couldn't afford the scoob back then

That's because they are pig ugly and soft wink

quickly dons his fire proof suit...

I loved my old STi, truly. However, I now have a porker myself, and would I go back???? wink The problem with these cars is that, yes, they are mental, however you can't properly use that on the roads... With a nice well balanced car with adequate power, you have a much better time and more fun smile

Depends how you measure fun as that is totally subjective. Just raw power can be lots of fun as can meagre power. wink

hehe yes, raw power can be, if you like massive acceleration and then deceleration as you stamp on the brake in a bid to lose about 70MPH before you tank into a corner wink

I guess what I am saying is that personally the whole balance and dare I say RWD penny dropped for me a few weeks ago smile

An old boy in my village drives one! Mr and Mrs, both 70 something, how times change!!

FWIW, I like this car...but im off Subarus generally since I got badly burned by a classic shape one a few years ago. Bulletproof they certainly are not!! Only car thats ever dropped a major mechanical bombshell on me

heavy GTR?

Doesn't a scooby hatch with a little 4 pit weigh the best part of 1500kg?

1440kg with fluids when my car was tested with all fluids compared to 1740kg of the GTR a difference of 300kg.

Yes but everything else about the GTR is superior compared to this tweeked scooby. I know you want to justify the 40k asking price but now you're just taking the piss.

Having owned a GTR there was nothing superior about it other than it's fat dimensions and the superior weight difference.

What's superior about the GTR please do enlighten me wink
I take it your comment above is from experience having sat in both and driven both ?

Or is it pure speculation?

The brakes....I dont think so
The handling........I don't think so
The tyres perhaps......nope they both use RE070 Bridgestone as standard

The electronic diff and gearbox that do everything for you...........yes perhaps
The sheer boost in a straight line...........yes perhaps after 120mph

Perhaps we can ask the boys at pheads to test them all GTR,EVO X FQ400 CS400 and the R205......?

bks. One is a built from the ground up supercar which has broken many lap records, the other is a slight tweaked impress hatchback. It's got smaller brakes, smaller engine, it's less aerodynamic, the awd system is mickey mouse in comparison and the gearbox and transmission are nowhere near advanced. The suspension set up and chassis are a league below too. Nice car buts it's not that special, certainly not worth 40k in my eyes and it's pretty disingenuous to try and pretend its something which it isn't . I really doubt it's any quicker than an fq400 and thats got nothing on the big Nissan.

The r205 is 5 seconds slower around tsubuka apparently and slower than an evo 8 mr rs... yours may be pushing out a few extra horses but nothing compared to tuning capability of the GTR.

The sh't you just spouted is "bks" you've just claimed it's got small brakes, a small engine that's a proper mickey mouse comment the sort of thing a dumb school boy would say.

Then you go on to claim the AWD system, gearbox and tranny are mickey mouse components.........yet these same components are used in competition every weekend through out the world in group N rallying.

Then you go on to say the suspension and chassis is a league below.......please can you explain how they are a league below or is that you just talking sh't?

The only disingenuous pretending is by you as you don't have a fu kin clue what your talking about laugh

LOLZ your stupider than I thought look at the mix of cars your telling me a 911 carrera goes around the Tsubuka than a 997 turbo pmsl.
Is this where you googled your information from....did you not think it was odd how a carrera was fasther than a turbo...........?

You claimed with no evidence to back it up that your car is a quick as a Nissan GTR! Of you can tell the difference in the quality of components that make two cars then you're not deceitful, you're an idiot. One is a skightky tarted up impreza the other is a ground built technological masterpiece. Btw your ad claims your r205 makes 400bhp but nothing appears to be different from the standard spec. Where did you find the extra 80 horses or are you making that up too?!

It's got a bigger turbo you moron wink

My evidence is driving the car on he same roads and tracks!! it's through actual experience having owned both cars.

Hang you spent over 40k on a ugly hatchback which you claim is as capable as a GTR and you're calling me a moron rofl

Oh and I didn't say the brakes etc were small, I said they were smaller than the GTRs which is entirely true. And what's Group N got anything to do with this?! Do you really think the suspension is as good or are you winding me up? And that the chassis shared with boggo imprezas and wrxs is as good as the bespoke chassis that Nissan spent years developing for the GTR? Have you really owned a GTR?

As for the turbo your ad just says R205 turbo?! Does it have any other supporting mods? Do you have a dyno print out?
And I wonder how long the internals will last before they lunch themselves scratchchin

You made the claim, so let's have some proof... (the heavily tweaked and upgraded 2011 Sti which used all the good parts off the r205, driven by tommi mak was over 30 seconds slower round the ring than the GTR)

The fact that there smaller makes it a lesser advanced vehicle was your claim.
If the suspension and chassis were less advanced as you claim I wouldn't be going around corners as quick as the GTR , your ignorance regarding the chassis of the impreza makes chuckle.

I have a funny feeling you have never driven a spec c variant in fact I have a funny feeling you have never driven a GTR?

Yes the car has other supporting mods injectors and mapping plus a 3" turbo back exhaust. Who said anything about the Ring? obviously on a track where theres going to be mahoosive straights the GTR is going to have the edge!
And yes I have print out's of how much she's running!
LOL@ "have you really owned a GTR" .......No just like I've have never owned a S3, RS4 E92 M3 CLS 63AMG R8 and 997 turbo was a figment of my imagination. wink

What exactly do you drive sorry? Agh an evo 9, I have had those to a 9GT and X RS both running 400bhp. No wonder you were over the moon at the sight of an 8 MR RS lapping Tsukuba quicker than than an R205 which I can assure you is bks as they don't handle no where near as good as a spec c.
