Crumbs, talk about divided opinions! 
As a kid looking through car books of design studies and concept cars i was of the impression that Pininfarina did beautiful, Bertone did dramatic, while Zagato did weird.
These roles haven't really changed much over the years to me, other than i'm now aware of a larger number of studies from each stylist which often blur the lines between them.
They're all capable of designing monsters.
Personally, i think anything Zagato with an Alfa Romeo underneath tends to be gorgeous and everything else is nasty, with a few exceptions:
Aston DB4 Zagato, Lancia Hyena, Ferrari 550GTZ.
I don't think Zagato have 'lost it', they rarely 'hit it' in the first place.

...or picturing it with a tiny rivulet of foamy saliva coming from the corner of its mouth... I dunno, I quite liked the look of this car when I first saw it, it has a healthy dose of Z3M to it, and the fact people seem to be hating on it quite hard now means in a decade or so people will have started to really want one.
I don't care what anyone else thinks, rant and rave as much as you fancy.
I think Zagato's Z4 looks absolutely beautiful from the front, a bit different at the back but that doesn't put me off whatsoever. However I think with a Zagato model they should have given it the full "M-Power" treatment first. Just like before- a beefy engine promotion, hydrolic steering and lose the stupid run-flats.
All that's left now to REALLY finish the picture; take the roof off... give it a V8... and we're in business!
