Did she ever get a driving license or does she just use the exemption she's afforded?

To be honest, that's exactly the sort of person you'd want as the head of a country isn't it? Not some lardy bloke in a suit who wouldn't know a spark plug from a glow plug. Or, in the case of Gordon Brown, can't even drive.

Yo respec' girl.

My late Grandmother's neighbour and best friend was the Queen's Ambulance driving instructor when she joined the ATS. we will be visiting her when we go down for the FOS in a few weeks so i will make sure to show her that picture and ask her all about it. (I believe she was also a friend of the Duke of Richmond's butler and used to go to tea at Goodwood house)

I imagine she got one on the wartime exemption- all wartime provisional licences that had been held for more than a year were converted to full licences when driving tests resumed after the war. Unless she had to take the test as part of her ATS training. After all, she would have still needed one before she became Queen.

She may not still have one, though- she might not have bothered to renew it when she turned 70 given that she doesn't need one.

Excellent video - can anyone figure out what the seats are from, or are they totally custom?

I saw that very Land Rover at Gaydon a couple of days ago. They look like custom made seats to the standard L-R 110 pattern, but upholstered in green leather.

Yup yup, there's nothing staged about those WW2 pics at all. laugh

Not saying she's not handy with a spanner, I actually like Liz.

Her family though....all of them, I've loathed until recently with Will and Kate. I see why people/media are drawn to them two.

I fear Pippa and Harry are both ugly people beyond the cameras.

Pleased to see this has gone down well! It's quite something, the Queen's Landie: has proper attitude, the V8 off-roader of all our dreams. If TVR did 4x4s, etc...

The leather seats seem stock Land Rover, btw - just trimmed in the richest (and most vivid) green leather. Quite wonderful.
