Still my car of choice, should I ever inexplicably find myself with £200k of disposable income in my current account.

Is it just me or is the interior shot showing a distinct lack of quilted leather?

was very happy with it .
My biggest problem was I got carried away with the colour ( bought that bloody alubeam ) and it ended up looking bronze in certain lights so when I had a chance to get out of it I did .
If I had just got a black one Id still have it .
Its a beautifully built , surprisingly great to drive , big hearted , super car that looks different from the mid engined norm and is great for regular use .
With switchable damping and a more responsive gearbox and throttle I think it will be borderline perfect .

There are other choices.
thats good then, unfortunately these particualr ones remind me of some hideous thing fitted to a corsa I once had the misfortune of having to drive at work.

Me personally I think some BBS LM type wheels would look good on this.

Looks awesome in that photo, as ive said not keen on the wheels, but I love the fact it looks like the sort of car that would punch you in the nose and steal your lunch money!!

I couldn’t resist it , a mate was picking up his 4.0 and we went in the SLS . At one point they wouldn’t open the gate!

No doubt it's one hell of an engine, just a shame the car looks so hideous.
Agreed. Saw one (not a GT of course) over the weekend parked up. Can't get excited about it at all. The styling of the front doesn't match the rear in my eyes.

If it had of been moving though I'm sure it would have sounded awesome going by the videos.
Totally agree. The styling just doesn't do it for me- certainly not beautiful like the original SL300. Always thought these were a step backwards after the awe-inspiring SLR.

Having seen quite a few in-person, I can confirm they do sound fantastic.

20bhp adds 2mph at 199mph? Yeah, right.
Tweaks to the gearbox and it's ratio's add the 2mph. It's just easier for Mercedes to say the 20bhp does it without boring everyone with geekery.
It might be in this case but your statement isn't necessarily true. Changing the gear ratios could also have the effect of lowering the top speed but enable getting there more quickly.

I don't like those particular wheels either.

These are the best wheels of the three Mercedes offer I think.

Does anyone know how this utterly splendid engine lives on in the SLS, yet was replaced (for, I think, emissions reasons [boooo]) in all the other '63' AMG offerings?
