At the end of the day this doesn't make that much difference, the same still applies, New CEO / Old CEO we would like to see something tangiable and car like please.

Please don't show me another Bernard Swizzle or whatever his name is, limited edition £150k Evora when you can't sell then at £50k, or a facelifted Exige or some b**tardised son of the two.

smile made me giggle

My mum would have been better than Dany Bahar(her kitchen needs are smaller so might have slipped past the accountants).

I do not know much about the travails of modern Lotus, as all my Lotuses are old knackers, but I deplore the awful mangllng of the language in the announcement! "terminated from his employment" Yuk!

Well who didn't see that coming. The fact that they publicly stated they had suspended him (rather than dealing with it quietly) made me think the writing was on the wall!

I've been looking for more info on our new man at Lotus but haven't been able to find anything.

Just thought it would be interesting to see where he's worked in the past and if any of that experience could directly influence the type of cars Lotus will hopefully go on to make.

A pair of fresh, engineering eyes is what Lotus needed all along. The PR thing wasn't even half the story, looking back there were just too many holes in Dany boys 'master' plan.

So within 10 days Lotus has investigated Bahar's shenanigans, passed sentence, dismissed him, interviewed and appointed a replacement, who just happened to be available to start immediately, without 1 months notice to his old employer.
wink

Sounds like wheels were in motion and his fate was sealed long before the investigation was made public.

Terminating generally means gross misconduct which will allow them to revoke any unexercised share rights. Convenient that.

I see Lotus closed as a car maker by 2015 at the latest. Caterham will then buy the rights to build the Elise/Exige and that will be the 7 of our generation. Ownership of the brand name 'Lotus' will be bought by VAG and be shelved for 20 years or by the Chinese and will lose all associated value as they churn out rebadged 90s VW saloons known widely as 'Wotus'

He was already working for the parent company

Funny they missed off Mohd and bin from his name in the press release. Not English enough sounding perhaps going by all the references to English and British in the wording!?

Was there not something in the press about Bahar giving hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cars away to his chums or something?

As a lifelong Lotus devotee, I greet this news with mixed feelings. Bahar's global brand push with 5 new models was cringeworthy (and naive) as was the embarassing spat over F1 branding. We all know that the 'Lotus' on the grid is a Renault/Benetton and has zero intellectual Lotus DNA and that con-trick diminishes the brand!
If the new owners and new CEO intend to get back to basics and do what Lotus does best, then great, I wish them well but time will tell and where does this leave the F1 sponsorship? More embarassment to come I fear...
The goodwill to Lotus in the world-wide motoring world is enormous. Lotus is a UK gem and with good management, a sensible strategy and investment it will flourish again.

There is no F1 sponsorship. That ended months ago. Genii's F1 team is keeping its Lotus branding because it is a good name to have and taking the Lotus name off everything mid season would be a chore.

Do you think they are pushing the fact the new guy is English enough ???

I was thinking that too, and it's quite sad that they felt they needed to appease the vast number of idiots who place importance on such things. His wife is English too you know, calm down people!!
It says that he's a UK resident, not that he's a British citizen. Isn't there a difference between the two?

it's worse than that, the team is called LOTUS now, and it would be dam near impossible to get them to change it now (even if they wanted to).

effectively, they have got the rights to the name for zero cost.

Just another part of the legacy of Danny-boy...

Delighted Lotus have an engineer in charge. Best move possible.

Now please can we have an MX5 but better, and call it the Elan.

Pretty please.
