Ate KTM still involved with Alfa 4C / Dallara chassis.

I had heard from KTM bike fanboys that the Xbow had just about bancrupt the whole company

I think KTM probably realised that many people put windscreens and roofs on their cars, and perhaps that was what they should have done to start with - it becomes a bit more of a viable proposition if you can use it without a crash helmet...
You think so? If that's the case, I'd venture that the weatherproofing solution they are using from the aftermarket is likely to be a fair bit cheaper than anything to be made available from KTM and also probably comes with lower customer expectations in terms of quality of fit etc of the end result. I just can't see this increasing sales of an already over priced base model. On the other hand, it may help shift a load of slow moving aging stock cars, which may be aim.

It's a mystery to me why the X-Bow was so expensive. Too aggressive payback predictions for the development maybe? Anyone else know the reasons for the high price?

You'd just buy a V6 Exige S and pocket the change though, wouldn't you?

I like this, but KTM's X-Bow is just a Lotus Elise!

KDI,

Don't think so:

Not even close, the KTM would not even see the dust it would be so far in front;

Phil

He did say 'Elise'.

Looks like the Elise S has similar performance to me, and looks a HELL of a lot better than that incohesive horror show that is the KTM. Yes its nuts, yes its different, yes looking good etc is subjective but I have always despised the way the KTM looks, especially when it went 'GT' racing in Brit GTs, it just looked plain awful.

On a race track maybe, but in the real world. I've followed a X-Bow in an old Louts Elise (I was not driving it), it could not get away, as the road was to rutted to let it use it's full performance.

The funny bit was a freind in a 1930's Morgan three wheeler kept up with both of us, we only gained a little on the straights losing it on the turns. Very impressive. This was an ex-racer with a few updates to make it more usable in modern traffic and on motorbike tyres. I rode in this later.

Ye gods. The real thing aint pretty...

Screen too tall and upright, and still no roof. I much prefer some of the unofficial versions in this thread

Looks like something that was made in the Top Gear shed, by Jeremy and his hammer vomit

About time too! Well done KTM.

Experience shows that cars without windscreens are unsaleable and that cars without proper roofs run them a close second!
What about cars with gopping afterthoughts slapped on top like vomit? How do they sell?

It looks dreadful.

Jeez, I'd imagined that was somone's home made lash-up and the other cars (orange, white) were the real thing!

Agreed. If that's the real thing it's utterly yucksville and will do nothing to enhance sales...
