Looking at the pics, it looks like someone's gone out their way to crease the pillars and roof lines. That stinks of someone trying to write a car off as they're effectively 'unrepairable' panels and sections Whilst the car's in the dealer, it's the dealers insurance that covers it. Therefore the owner won't have to pay a penny Sounds like a good way of 'writing off' your car at someone else's expense to me, no ? Odd that they've walked onto the dealers grounds at night and just targeted one car, destroyed it in a manner tat would write it off, and then left it without damaging anything else ? Anyone else smell a fishy smell ?

So you'd get the call to say 'your car has been vandalised at our premises, can you come and get it?' and you'd say 'of course, not your fault, I'll be there in an hour' Really? I don't blame them for the act but I would expect the car to be safe in their care.

Really? I don't blame them for the act but I would expect the car to be safe in their care. I hope the owners insurance doesn't try to wriggle out of a claim if he needs to make one. Its situations like this that tend to show up all the fine print

True, but if a bloke walks on to their forecourt with a menacing look on his face, carrying an axe, and starts smashing seven bells out of the £200K Ferrari, what would you expect them to do? Short of calling the police, I can't think of anything. I sure as hell wouldn't want them to endanger themselves. s'only a car. Their insurance should definitely sort it out, but the guy in the article makes it sound like the whole thing is the garage's fault.

It's unusual to see one car targeted so much. If it were the dealers, they'd have put an axe through the roof of every car.
That to me suggests the car was targeted, maybe mistaken identity of a similar car but would there be many black 612's around?
"I gave the garage a car worth more than £200,000 and they give me back a car that is effectively written off. The police asked me if there could be anyone who has a grudge against me but the garage is miles from my home."
It's not worth more than £200k, and I can see why the police are asking him who would be responsible.

I'd expect to have a conversation about it, to explore options and I'd expect an element of goodwill and understanding (to a reasonable level) Maybe I'm kidding myself

There must be more to this than is being made public...
Either that or Axeman must just really hates 612's

Either that or Axeman must just really had 612's Precisely. If it was a random attack, or a grudge against the garage, he wouldn't have stood there 'for several minutes' completely ruining a single car, that's not logical. A person in that situation would be doing what they could to inflict as much damage as possible, to as many cars as possible.

maybe random, maybe not. All I will say is that if any of his clients have had an issue with him, especially in a recession, the fact he drives around in a Fezza may have been like a red rag to a bull! No excuse for vandalism ever, but when you are self employed particularly you need to have empathy with your customer/ target audience..and flash does not go down well with many clients (speaking as an ex city estate agent who always left his flash company car round the corner when selling anything under a mill!)..

Yep, that's part of it. Seeing a flash car doesn't make people think you are good at your job, but makes them think they are creaming off a little too much out of a sale.

The Veyron driven into the lake would probably have been paid out were it not for the video..

Merely just noting that these circumstances would be somewhat convenient should the owner be looking to liquidate an otherwise tough to liquidate asset. I know neither the owner, or have experience of the garage / area

A friend of the owner of the 612 in the news article posts on PH and mentions his mates cars a lot. I am sure he will be along soon.

does smell odd...
why target just the one car? why target a s****y 612 and not something more valuable? If its an attack against him, he must have some idea who is responsible....
All a setup I say. Hes in the buisness of making money. Now wants a bit more?

Sounds bizarre to me. If i was an axe wielding madman, i'd aim for the obvious - middle of the roof, wings, doors etc etc. I'd agree that specifically targeting hard to repair bits is very a targeted attack indeed...
