Just be aware the map may show any weakness in the clutch so try and have a few quid spare in case it does, mine did and it was frustrating with it slipping.
Agreed. "Economy" maps are usually okay as a general rule, but most decent mappers will warn of the extra stress on the DMF, clutch and box if you go for a "power" map. If you stay away from drag racing away from lights and use your gears properly instead of staying in 6th and accelerating from 30mph just because you can, you shouldn't have any issues.

Mine was the BSR PPC remap on a Saab 9-3 Aero, it added 37 bhp, it certainly felt a lot more aggressive, it sounded different but the trouble was the clutch, the car wasnt that high mileage but the torque went from 210 lb/ft to 288, think the clutch was only rated to just over 300 lb/ft clamping force, add in some wear and being near the limit it slipped sometimes, clutch wasn't knackered, just couldn't contain all that low down grunt, put it back to standard and it wouldn't slip at all, it didn't like a load of torque in a high gear, seemed to cope better in lower gears but of course it was torque limited anyway in first and second.

I've remapped all three of our MK1 TTs (225), the difference was amazing they pull so much better now, especially from the lower end and the increase in mid range torque makes motorway driving even better than before.

I think fuel economy did increase a bit, but I think sometimes you tend to want to drive it harder when you know its a little faster.

Yeah, the increased torque from remaps have a nasty habit of killing the M32 6-speed box in the 1.9 Astra's in no time at all, too. They were made of cheese to begin with and only rated to 320Nm which is what the 150hp lump does in standard form anyway.

I'm actually having some reservations about having my new PD130 remapped as the standard clutch really throws its tows out from what I've read on the mkiv forums. Hmmm.. decisions.. scratchchin

I had a Revo remap done on my Octavia VRs - same-ish engine (AUQ) as yours.

Revo had a 'sale' on last year, so I paid £199. Had it done at JKM in Portsmouth.

It's wonderful with a remap - I'd never go back! It got rid of an annoying flatspot just off a closed trottle - and in addition to a wave of extra torque right through the rev range, it now revs right into the breadline with gusto, whereas before it used to lose interest around 5k rpm.

Better on fuel too - providing you drive normally of course! The first few weeks it was terrible on fuel, because I was caning it everywhere biggrindriving
