I have been lucky enough to venture to Le Mans about 5 times and Classic Le Mans twice. The best time was when the cars included (in no particular order)

Lancia Fulvia
Ferrari 355
Alfa Romeo Junior
Lotus Elise
Audi S2 Convertible

That was a good year... Its an awesome weekend and I miss it dearly but my missus loves cars so maybe next year I will manage a weekend there smile

I havent been to leman in about 6 years now. My best two years are below. Good year of some decent fast cars then the funniest time in an ex amercian police car. Can remember flashing a british jag over and us flying past with our big wigs and sunglasses on. Ah good times.

Just had a text from Dan Dunn, one of the two Mission Motorsport lads

'We are over the water now and just driven past a range rover, BMW Z4 and 2 other BMWs all with mission motorsport stickers on them.'

Very cool.

Jealous.

The drive down is indeed a sad shadow of its former self. Blame the autoroute.

It used to be a delightful drive through vilages and quick main roads lined with plane trees. The villagers would all be out waving at cars and trying to sell you a baguette and a beer. It was wonderful.

Just another day-at-the-office eh guys? Lucky sods.

No 80s esque team photo is complete without a left-to-right roll call to name and shame. This becomes particularly important when it's time to compare and contrast this 'before' shot with the obligatory 'after' version.

Envious obviously, but happy to be going to the Classic in a few weeks time. Eurosport and radio LeMans on the web to ease the suffering.
+1 - Have been since 2001 and gave it a miss this year to do LM Classic. Upside is now living in Munich and they show Eurosport FREE here so thats me sorted for the weekend - and with German Beer - whats not to like :-))

Good luck lads - keep on blogging. (BTW - you can still do the RN138 - just dont take the autoroute from Rouen on down ie turn right at Calais and do not go via Paris)

Sorry to sound thick, I don't really follow Motorsport, but is Le Mans 24hr on this weekend? Just realised we're going on holiday on Saturday night to a place called saint cast Le Guildo which doesn't appear to be far from Le mans. Might spot some tasty motors :-)

Listening to Radio LeMans, enjoying these PH blogs, watching Eurosport - showing up all the F1 coverage for the lightweight froth that it is.

How I wish sportscar endurance racing was more extensively covered.

Missed it again this year. right next year def going to have to go on the le mans trip.
I appreciate its now no longer a gauntlet run with the police and more about the commeraderie of the drive but great fun nevertheless.

I think we need to encourage a motorsport occasion in Eastern Europe. Then we can all drive down at least some of the way with the same cat and mouse game with the police and you would know the worst case is a big fine (im talking about speeds of not more than 130ish as clearly even in E Europe 150plus is begining to upset the police).

Looks like the M5 in the pic belongs to Chris Harris, with you working with him I would assume you would recognise him, but there you go.... Please correct me if I'm wrong. wink
