Surely traditionally the Camaro, along with the Firebird and of course the Mustang, are known as Pony Cars, not Muscle Cars?
As for the photo, the UK plate kills it.

PetrolAholic said: It's always annoyed me that they dont do a RHD version, I would have had one of these or any of the other American muscle cars a long time ago by now, The Viper, Corvette etc etc etc...
I know there probably isnt a market for RHD versions of these cars but surely they would take off if there was? The closest thing I can think of to this example is the Vauxhall Monaro, but even then they dont sell many!!!! It's hardly surprising there is no RHD version, www.howmanyleft.co.uk gives only 500 Cameros in the UK in total!

Off to California at the end of August for my 40th birthday, been toying with the idea of renting one from Hertz, gonna cost £340 for 7 days, not bad me thinks! Doing quite a few miles, from San Francisco airport, to carmel, driving down some of highway 1, then up into Yosemite, then Lake Tahoe, then back to San francisco. Anyone here recommend any roads I "shouldn't miss" in the area? Twisties in the US??

When the Smart was launched, Car did an article about driving a Smart across the US coast to coast. They had an amazed reaction from everyone that saw it. I remember the total fuel bill was £88.00!

Nice idea ! I still expect the reaction of most Middle-Americans would be derision though. FWIW, and back on topic, I rather like the Camaro's look, but would feel a bit of a berk driving one in blighty. My loss, perhaps ?

I think you feel a berk in any car that attracts attention whether it's a striped muscle car (blurred distinction with pony cars)or a Lamborghini.

This, I think most of us at one time or another have driven a RHD car over in Europe and felt very little in the way of inconvenience (granted, over taking requires a bit more planning but nothing earth shattering). Left hook exotica isn't so bad

LHD is no problem, car looks good on Uk roads (evidenced by all the comments I get), and is a far better car than the Monaro I had a few years back. My only regret is that I couldn't keep my old Virginia number plate when I got her home to the UK.

I had one of SS covertibles in Ca as a rental in March.
I was dissappointed when they said they didnt have the vette I had ordered and disssappointed when I drove the SS.
I wasnt sorry after 24hrs to switch it when the vette had arrived.
The vette convertible actually has a bigger boot than the SS too!

Starts going up from a few hundred feet and keeps going up....and up...and up...the highest point is 8000 feet! Twice the height of the UKs highest point. Looking out over a desert from the snow is very odd indeed. Allow 90 mins - 2 hrs each way.

I think it looks fantastic. In all fairness he is better positioned to comment than most. As one of the longest standing owners of one of these in the UK I'll chuck my pennies worth in. Left hand drive and parking barriers are only an issue for those little people amongst us Anyone who think driving a left hooker in the UK is an issue, clearly hasn't done it for more than 30 minutes. As for the wing mirrors - they are generally disliked as the are akin to dumbo ears, As for the size, it isn't any bigger than many of the standard saloons out there. This is a GT / Muscle car not an out and out sports car. What I would say is the visibility is far more of an issue than the size. You sit very low down and it does make it very hard to judge the width on it. Also it's also not until you start modifying the exhaust that it starts to sound how it should http://youtu.be/atbLrcmB9PgIf you're a shrinking violet, you may be better of with an MX5!
