Must admit to liking the Panamera, I believe they look far better in the metal than in pictures.
Hmm, the opposite is true to my eye. They aren't that bad in pictures because you can't judge the scale but in the metal, when you can see how bulky they really are, they're truly vile. I think white is about the worst colour too; dark colours hide the ungainliness to some extent.
So you can buy a second hand E39 M5, run it for 2 years, inc. service, petrol, tax and insurance, and you will spend the same (including depreciation) as you would if you had owned one of these Panameras on Depreciation alone in the first 4 months.
The depreciation of these things is staggering, and the cost is quite incredible relative to the new M5 which offers more of everything for considerably less, if you want a new warp speed uber saloon.
I think the new M6 4dr when (if) it comes out will steal a lot of prospective Panamera owners.

Except a manual gearbox option in the UK.Cheib said:
Love the idea of this in a world of flappy paddles.....I just find the looks very, very challenging. Maybe driving one helps overcome that ?
I had one last week as a courtesy car for a few days.I loved it. It was the diesel, and a couple of weeks before, I had the hybrid.
Both in a dark brown, that looked practically black. It looks so menacing, and I had more positive comments about the car in under a week, than I can recall in my turbo in the last year!
If I was in the market for a big executive car, I would certainly take a punt on a Panamera.
Not to mention that it averaged 45+mpg over the couple of hundred miles I did (mixed), vs my old 535d averaging 27mpg over the same kind of driving - my current 320d is averaging 42mpg!

Likewise, you could have ran a 996 turbo in the same way as above for the depreciation on my 997 turbo. The depreciation of these things is staggering, and the cost is quite incredible relative to the new M5 which offers more of everything for considerably less, if you want a new warp speed uber saloon.

But who cares?
Do you think that the kind of buyer for this car new will be considering a 10 year old BMW (as good a 10 year old BMW it is)?
Also, cost considerably less? Have you specced up a F10 M5? Won't have much change from £85k, so I would say they are priced about the same.
However, the Panamera isn't about all out performance like the M5. It's a far more comfortable car and will be aimed at a different kind of buyer.
