They don't need to try and reinvent their image with each new car -evoloution not revoloution, look at the Porsche philosophy, that seems to work well. It's instantly recoginsable as an Aston, I guess that was an important part of the design. Why would they just create something completely different? They could risk alienating their current client base. Chances are if they created a completely revolutionary design people would just say words to the effect of 'looks awful compared to the beautiful previous designs'.

I think it looks great. Not completely sold on the wheels but love the side profile, love the intergrated spoiler, the rear haunch lines are great and I actually like the front splitter - it's not a DB9 so I think it really suits the aggressive/sporty look of the rest of the car.
Shame they've not come up with a new design but it sounds like they will shortly and at least this one will look nice zooming about in the meantime.

It is evolution rather than revolution, but they have made some distinctive changes which is good (I have been pretty vocal in the past about them needed to change the record.
It is a shade fussy. I would start by drawing a line on the centre of the hubs along the length of the car. Keep everything above, sort out the fussiness below. I would also reduce the size of the profile line on the side vent as it's a bit much IMHO. But that aside I actually quite like it.

If you are going to stay committed to a design language - this is the one to stay faithful to. This also looks much more coherent than the DBS which always had a sense of DB9 plus bodykit to it. Also great to hear the Vanq name back in use. Saw a DB9 at Graypaul alongside the Bentleys, Lambos, Fezzas, Mazzas and Porkers. It did look a little old school but I am convinced it is a shape that will age well. Also, I think it looks good in Cortina Brown, not least because I don't need to check if the photo is in colour!

The big question for me is if they have made the interior any larger than the DB9.
For such a large car, it is ridiculously cramped inside unless you are a little shorter than the average. Strangely, for the long-of-leg, the Vantage ( although smaller) has a useful extra inch or so of leg room.
Hopefully this car has improved the situation.

it looks unbelievably amazing from the centre-line upwards, but can't help thinking the skirts and lower crease along the side are a bit fussy. should've kept it a lot cleaner down there, despite it probably cocking up the aerodynamics.
i don't get all the comments about it being boring because it shares styling dna with the db9 and siblings. they are some of the finest looking cars ever made imho.

That's a hell of an expensive way to look so cheap. Aston have been out of ideas for a long time.

Dammed if they do, dammed if they don't on Piston Squids! Jeezz- this used to be a site full of Motoring ENTHUSIASTS! Personal Opinion is to be encouraged, but completly dismissing because of a colour?

MiniMan64 said: Where does the 310 come from by the way? Number of minutes it took the designer to come up with this one? It is nice, but yawn they really do need something of a new model rather than just churning out small upgrades. They are being left behind.

It's a pleasant enough shape, but some of the details let it down for me, like that front splitter.

Aston = understated elegance.
Not any more.
This would be fine as "hot racer" version but as a standard car far too bling. Looks like they're trying too hard.
Wheels are particularly hideous. Aren't they available at your local halfords?

The styling is way too 'busy'. The splitter, diffuser and the skirts look like they've been bolted on rather than being integral parts of the car.
I think it's been designed by a committee that was trying too hard...

To me it looks like another derivation of the DB9, however, every time they do so the result in my eyes is less attractive. The DB9 looks great. This looks shouty.

Amazing. Would love to see one in a silvery gun metal grey.
Back to the 'would you buy a super car thread'....
