Engine management light - Is it MOT failure?
Discussion
The engine management light is not a fail and it won't be a fail when the new items come in, it's not even mentioned in the testers manual. The confusion arises from the mention of malfunction indicator lamps (MIL) for the other systems.
The airbag warning will be a bit of a joke when it comes in, as if it's lit it'll fail, but there will be no requirement for it to light up or to follow a set sequence. This will mean that if the light source is not visible, the worst it'll get will be an advisory.

My Subaru Forester has had the OBD II light on for 3.5 years. It has never even been noted in MOT. It came on just after i got car from ebay. Went to Subaru, who said dont worry, we've no idea why it is on. No problems have manifested since. But i have just bought an OBD II sensor from China on ebay (ELM 327). This is a bluetooth sensor. I then buy an app for my Android phone to interpret these codes. The app costs 2.95 and the sensor is 8.61. Not yet got sensor or app, but might post again if i get it all working. I will be able to reset codes with this. Although it probably isnt an MOT problem in fact, it will help selling car
I got an OBDII sensor from ebay for £9. I then installed Torque from Android on my HTC desire. This is free. It gives me the error codes on the ECU together with lots of other info. I was able to trace the error codes to a faulty air fuel sensor. I was also able to reset the codes to switch off the light. This was easy. Sensor came from China.
