Agreed, though it's not a risk at £500, the wheels, interiour and steering wheel would see you in profit after weighing the rest in so you get a free go effectively at repairing it.
Life is too short!

You waste £xxx on parts before realising the car is fundamentally buggered, the wheels you thought would bag £xxx turn out to be mangled and the price of scrap is 50p/tonne when you wake up to fact your driveway now resembles an illegal traveller site.

Stump up £2k for a good one and look after it, always the cheapest way smile
You should buy the best you can afford, if you haven't got a couple of grand then this could be a way in for no cash.

Personally, I'm st at mechancial stuff therefor it'd make more sense for me to do the overtime at work and spend the extra if I needed to so it's never going to be for me. Some on here though could no doubt do a decent job with it

I agree. Almost timeless. Subtley classless too. Like.
Guilty of lurking but was just looking at prices of 190s, a family member selling one soon. Found this more budget conscious 'touche' to the above, also a 2.6.

Below thread budget but looks good for a monkey...

As nice as it is it makes the £5k 530i Sport on the same mileage look like a bargain!

Non runner needs love. Could be nice with work. Or not
What makes it a non-runner then? The seller is curiously quiet on that front. Cosmetic damage and a weird-looking passenger seat aside that's a great big lump of machinery for about half a bag.
That looks lime it's being sold by a trader. If so, its fked. No tax and test, a non-runner and a trader can't get it going? Walk away.

I might be wrong though hehe (but I still wond be bidding!)

or ruinous! Both though would be ok as the former will negate the latter...maybe!

hehe

Looks in great condition, but I agree, near £4k for a 13yr old one is madness.

If you understand such things and happen to find a read ended or rolled E39 M5 it could make a good project base.

If I had a million pounds in the banm, a barn, lots of tools and another two days mechanical training I'd run out of money surrounded by unfinished project cars in about 6.5 weeks. Still at least I'd have a lot of radios and some nice chairs.

Tell tale indicator of goodness: modern Becker headunit (a Grand Prix 7990, which includes Bluetooth for the 'phone). Only a very committed owner would go to that trouble. The colour combination also is lush (although Anthracite would shade it).

It's not a minter, but then it isn't priced as one. I like very much.

Nice car smile Very reasonable price in my opinion.

Something about adverts... I think it's possibly me being picky but I find adverts with opinion annoying. Purely facts make for a better read since that's what I'm looking for. I don't care if the seller thinks the mileage is representative of wear or not or any other waffle about the engines performance.

Completely agree. That does however look like a nice buy for the £.

Damn fine looking motor is that! Looks very modern for a nine year old motor. Is that the same engine as the 3.0 Legacy that everyone raves about....with the same horrendous MPG?

Yes. And only ever available as an auto in the Outback, just to round down the MPG figures to a nice, memorable number biggrin
