Air suspension on these is ruinous, coming up on 10 years old seems just about right for catastrophic failure.

The manual 260PS T5 is quicker by the numbers than the heavier and AWD 300PS S60 R too IIRC. No active, switchable dampers to bork expensively either. No but it has the scarey expensive lights, which are not in the best of health. Plus some other things that put me off, i viewed it over a month ago and its still for sale............

I merely wouldn't buy any car from Birmingham or a few other places mentioned on this thread in the past, and '12 May 2012 Compulsory Striking Off of Register Cancelled' doesn't inspire confidence

I wouldn't expect to get any joy if the car broke down expensively after purchase.

A lex - about what I figured and I know the thing is ok as he just did 250 miles on it in 2 days. Just wanted to check as I am not exactly a mechanical genius. Thanks mate. As you say, how far wrong can I go on what will be the smallest amount I have ever spent on a car, including my first ever car before I passed my test.
Seems like a decent enough mini barge for the winter and potential dog hack car, which is all I really want it for. Sounds like a no brainer then - if its got any tax left on it and some life in the tyres, consider that a bonus. Im sure you could weigh it in for £250 so it really seems low/no risk. In my experience cars that consistently rack up the miles are far better prospects when playing the banger game. Try new boots and new tax! Looks like I can;t go wrong really but all shall be revealed when I get a chance to look it over properly at the weekend.

Is that the bulb warning light or just a general issue with the bi-xenons? Googling didn't clarify what the problem with this light setup is and why weren't they in the best of health. Asking as I may buy one of these when I sell my Mustang.

Can't be much in it and they are definitely larger than the W220 S-class.

Makes sense as a LWB W140 has to be as big as you would want a car to be on UK roads, similar footprint to a standard Transit van for instance. Ben

Asking as I may buy one of these when I sell my Mustang. Can't say I've ever come across any general issue with Volvo bi-xenons. They can begin to fail and flicker, like any xenon light, but not especially more than any other car.

BeirutTaxi said: BlueMR2 said: CharlesdeGaulle said: V8mate said: Ok...so it needs a proper haggle to get it down to thread budget... but in these austere times...who knows? This is a proper smoker barge... in fact, the interior looks as if it's been made of smoking jackets. Can't let this bad boy pass without comment. Irredeemably awful. The interior looks as though it's been made of smoking detritus, not smoking jackets (although maybe you are a velvet bow-tie sort of chap), and conflagration is what should happen to it. Just no. It looks like it was a design for a saloon originally then they just added another 3ft on the rear overhang to be able to advertise as "biggest boot in class". Advert said: selling as not being used On the face of it I totally understand his reasons for not wanting to drive it At £7k You would have to be UTTERLY MAD to buy this over a good 540i touring. They do have a certain presence because of there sheer vastness. The burgundy just adds to the drama. But seven grand for a 90s yank? No no no. Undoubtably a low mileage good condition example buy I would be looking at less than half the RRP. You could get a nice Impala for that money.
