You went to Newcastle didn't you? But there is at least a 50% chance of anyone in that part of the world selling used cars being fond of dags.

I did. But it's like a car that Lefty even just 'knows about'.

Au contraire. Cow is a little par venu, non? Cloth is authentic.

I looked at this today. It is not bad at all. It has everything, which is astonishing for a 1988 car. Air con, air bag, ASD, heated, electric, memory leather, two tone horn, the works. The only thing is lacks is SLS. Suspension is all wrong, though, and I think the wheels are, too: they look like they're off a 126, offset is all wrong and the tyre size is 126.

Which Newcastle are you thinking of? Last time I checked it wasn't in Ireland!

I came on to post this bargain - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Makes this one look reasonably priced non? Although I'm not sure the wheels suit it.

I meant there are lots of pastry based lock openers selling cars around County Durham, I know quite a few of them.

The Newcastle reference was to where G bought his track E36 from.

Buy, bring to the mainland, sell for profit.

If only I had the spare $$$ and time at the moment (although its mainly the $$$ thats the problem hehe)

You might wait a while for the right buyer but I reckon that would be shiftable for €12-15k here.
Those tints just make it look horrible, IMHO of course.

....diesels for their power delivery....
you mean turbo chargers. look at a turbo charged petrol engine, it's power delivery is VERY similar to a turbo charged diesel engine. it's not the diesel giving it that power delivery, it's the turbo chargers.

classic example, look at the 335d power curve. then look at a 335i power curve. they're extremely similar, except the 335i has the torque over a wider rev range hence it produces more power (well, it revs higher hence it's quicker)

I think what GP is getting at isn't related to the amount of power more the ease and lack of effort required to produce the useable power in the eyes of the average driver.

Bigger petrol engines do torquey wafting well, but a lot of drivers never access that extra power you refer to that the 335i has. If you think of something like a 2.0tdi lump found in a 3 or 5 series and consider how much quicker that lump makes the car feel to a person who never pushes their car past 3 or 4000 rpm on the road versus a 3.0 straight six that isn't producing peak torque until over 4500rpm or even how thirsty a turbo charged 3.0 six would seem in comparison for the performance they use.

I know people who've owned reasonably quick petrol cars and have moaned they're slow but they never use the range of revs available. The same people think a 1.9 tdi vag lump is something out of a supercar.
