Looks like not just one corner of the adaptive suspension has collapsed... so I'm guessing it's a problem with the system rather than 'a corner' as the advert suggests. £10k-£15k should cover it? hehe
I'll offer him to give me £10k and I'll take it away!!!

OOPS, put this in 5-20 by mistake...

Have we had this one?

Interesting, not seen this interior in an E38 before. Needs a service and MOT mind.

Lots of money for a non Sport '40 I think. Not without appeal though.

Also prompted by a poster in the £5-20k thread's new purchase, I've been musing over Lexuses again and again can only conclude that I find a late 400 and 430 agreeable. The 460s look good too, but they're still pretty dear.

http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Here is where the appeal falls apart for me, aesthetically.

Awful wheels aside, this shape has the most going for it for me, plus a more appealing interior: http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Looks a bit too JRG though, would vastly prefer silver or dark grey with black inside.

Bad points on both? (These generation of LS at such mileages and prices generally, rather than these examples specifically).

Never seen that before, must either be 'custom' or very rare.

In a 7, I'd prefer piped contours. It does look brilliant and its not far away from me either.

Was in the M Thread. It sounds good but reading between the lines, Service History is a touch patchy

shout Wannabe breakers,National Geographic (sky 526) tonight at 9pm Strippers: Cars for cash, two sets of geezers try and break cars for money A8 and a V8 XJ tonight.

I don't know if its new or not bug apart from the irritating cockney wide boy it's about cars and in this case at lease pulling apart smoker barges.

Agreed. Contours, piped would be lovely. My contours are black and it's a bit too dark with the dark wood, still comfy as hell though. German cars look too sombre in dark, lighter the better.

Der would be proud of you thumbup

400 Mk4. Nowt, save check for (very) high speed vibrations and worn out upper control arms. Oil every 9k, Belt and plugs every 65k. For the much nicer 17" wheels and extended wood inside (which is just +knob & half wheel) you'll want a DHP. Mine rides as smoothly as my old 16" non DHP, even with runflats on the rear.

430. Too borky for moi. Air suspension, electrics, and now gearboxes rearing their decidedly un-Lexus like heads recently.

If you haven't tried one, you must.

I agree, great cars, though I personally much prefer a light interior, having had both a dark blue Mk 1 interior and a light beige Mk 3 one. But that's what makes the world go round, the fact that we aren't all the same

So at 130k it'll likely need it's second belt change service - which I'll assume is going to be a fair chunk of the purchase price again, hence many get skipped or appear for sale at that mileage?

Garlick's one was DHP equipped wasn't it? Seem to recall something about very obscure tyre sizes, ergo can be pricey if a set of boots is due.

I was wondering at what stage LSs gained some form of active suspension as it seems to be a feature of just about all the flagship saloons (except the D2 S8 I think) and I've no stomach any more for the wallet-bashings such systems can deliver. It's a shame they never built a V12 Seven with standard struts and it's more hassle than is economically feasible to remove and install 740i hardware.

I've made my mind up to at least try one properly now, once a few more pressing bills and debts are out of the way. biggrin

Would jump at a Mk4 with beige/sand/cream/w'ev interior. There just weren't any about round here when I was shopping so I ended up with the 540i.

Not really, should be sub £400

His is a Mk3, with DHP wheels. Yes, the OE tyres are silly, but most (including me) have 225/55/17s which are within 2mm rolling diameter, decent tyres around £110ea on Camskill.

Beats the tyres on a 745.....£1060 for a full set. Give me barges with normal tyres every time.

Both fairly reasonable then, handy haggling points to bear in mind also. Ta.

It tickles me when people worry that a rolling radius or diameter isn't exactly right. Given how much they can vary just by speccing different wheel and tyre combinations from the factory and there's also the aspect that a new tyre has a radius in the region of 5.5mm of variability (therefore 11mm diameter) according to whether it's new or on the wear indicators etc...

Still kicking myself I didn't consider a different size on mine when I had ro replace recently - could have gone up a width and down a profile and had a much wider range of tyres at more resonable prices to chose from - not much around in 225/65/15 or whatever mine are.

We need someone loaded to buy a Toyota Century V12 so we can find out what the Toyota V12 is like.

Maybe if Garlic buys one then it will be in this thread pretty quickly too hehe.

One of the rare cars I would swap mine for, providing it was straight. If you don't like the wheels, a set of genuine replacements wouldn't be too expensive off ebay. Someone from here has to buy that.
Just tried calling them, rings out with no answer phone. Hopefully they'll call back.
