I'd want the same again in a war-chest, but I love the look of that...
looks good but I'd be wondering why it was left in gear...

I really don't see the fascination with an old BMW that just looks so bad. If I asked the Mrs to drive one of these should would throw a proper strop. I like old cars and that but this has the styling of a shed and I suppose it fits the title of this thread.
People (myself included) are fascinated because they are cheap, reliable and fun to drive.

that's fine, I like a cheap car myself but there are lot of cheap, reliable and fun to drive cars out there at the moment and ones that have actually aged well. I like the E30 saloon style in 325i form but the touring is just fugly.

E36s were the low point for BMW.

Shoddy build, poor quality materials and rusted like an Ford.

I'd have an E30 over an E36 every time.
Only the very early ones.

Top SOTW.

Why the hatred, I don't know?

Any half-decent E30, be it Coupe, Convertible, Touring or Saloon is cheap if you get it for under £1k.

You can even pick up early E46s for this sort of money, which shows the E30s have atleast retained some of their values.

I am yet to own an E30 Touring - would have considered this if it wasn't for the fact that I currently have way too many cars!

Buy it, strip it, drop it and slag it!

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the wheels on this SOTW actually the 14" BBS Cross Spokes?

It's the 15" ones that you would get between £200 and £250 for....

Factory fit were 15" , look as far as I can see to be 15" but will stand corrected

The came in both 14" and 15".

Mine wear 15" Hartge. Rare as hens teeth, to the point when I saw a second set I bought them.

Ok, looking at a 1991 price list

Bottle tops std
14" cross spoke £345
15" cross spoke £478

So you'd have to be pretty tight to spec 14" cross spoes which may explain why I don't recall seeing a 25i with them

Try finding a set of 5 Hartge wheels. Everyone bought 4 and kept the crossppoke as a spare

True, but people also know they are worth around £200, so would take them off and put 14" Cross Spokes, before selling the car!

I have 15" Cross Spoke on my E30 Track Car, and they definitely look bigger / beefier than those on this SOTW.

Unless, it's running on different tyres....

I believe bottle tops were factory fit, unless the 15" came as standard spec on the 'SE' models

I saw this in the classifieds myself. I actually quite like E30's and am toying with the idea of one as a useable hack instead of a boring (but more sensible) econobox.

Really this ticks all the boxes for me as a classic bit of shedding. With a bit of TLC it could be much more than that.

It's been for sale for quite a while though, which makes me wonder if there are gremlins to be found on closer inspection....

I prefer the Touring, though I do like the saloon E30.

I'm surprised by this car's mixed reception, I think it's a nice old thing provided it's not half dead with rust.

Last E30 I bought had a welded diff too. One morning I died twice just from looking at it.
