What's your hang up on diesel's? You can't have been near a VRS. I and everyone who has been in the fun and eager to please Fabia have been extremely impressed. As much fun as my 330bhp Impreza (new age)
Engines aside the Fabia chassis is no where near as capable as the Clio or the Teg.

Fabia VRS diesel smile Brilliant mix of performance, practicality and economy (mildly mapped of course)

VTEC is manic, fatiguing and difficult to use easily.
What a load of nonsense.

Not much point giving advice when you dont even know what you are talking about is there? (and yes the Fabia VRS is great for an oil burner but could never be compared to the other two if you enjoy driving more than watching the mpg).

The DC5 I owned for a little while handled with a sublime precision, is a nice looker and is built very well. What it needed was a big blower to get a more useable power band. Really, there was nothing below the vetec transition of 5.8K, which you need to get anywhere.

The Fabia is a bit more rock and roll, but mine has spring and arb upgrade and makes for a very organic compliant drive. To say again, it's more fun than my new age 330bhp Scooby, really. And does twice the mpg

Which part is the nonsense bit?

Just the noise they make, the problems they can bring, the ste they throw out the back. And that's about everything.

Just to add, I may not have first hand experience of the VRS in particular, but I've worked with diseasels every day I've been at work for the past 6 years.

I suppose I like turbo's and torque. The VTEC is glorious when rev'd but really when do you want to be doing 8K on the road? Torque is what is easily lived with, it's what gets you out of situations, it's such great thing for getting you around in a nippy way

As for noise there is very little in the VRS when travelling and yes there might be a soot chuck from the rear on full beans

It's not even the noise inside the vehicle, it's when I hear them as a padestrian and I think "oh, here's the postman"...

Huummm. They are std Type R's and std Impreza's. Who has a std scooby, and how difficult and expensive is a Honda to tune. Subaru's are easy money to get big power

Integra DC2

When you get to know its limits you will be amazed at what you can make it do.

Yes the lack of torque gets a but tiring and yes, you get addicted to revs and drive like a dick everywhere but its a special car.

lol. I didn't buy the VRS for its looks. It's not the best looker, although I don't think it's ugly. It's what the car delivers which day to day which is what this comes down to

If a daily driver then Clio. The Integra's annoying power delivery got frustrating when you're half way between gears and want to overtake.

Clear road, weekend car then the Integra.

I've owned (and been around) lots of Integras of all flavours over the years, and friends have owned various RenaultSports, so I know (and have driven) both sides fairly well.

The Clio is a great little car (seating position and canted steering wheel aside), but a good DC2 is just more of an event and feels so much more alive. You won't believe the things that an Integra in fine fettle can do down a good B-road.

Go for the Honda.

Had one for 2 years with a 60 mile daily commute and must say I never found it frustrating.

then again I was never inbetween gears smile

Nooooo, you misunderstood mate, my point wasn't clear. It's the noise. I don't object to the Skoda Fabia.

DC2 all the way, see above for all the reasons hehe

Decent teg will set you back twice as much as a 172/182 though.

Sorry, yes you did say it was the noise you didn't like. I don't know what to say to that. Mine has a decat Miltec which produces a modicome of grunt noise from inside

I found I'd be behind a slow car and then I'd be very high up the revs in 2nd but not quite in vtec in 3rd. Either having a millisecond and then change or having to wait to come on cam.

Clearly if you live with it you get used to having a very small run up in 3rd on overtakes.

Otherwise, great.
