StripeyMaita, Gary Handa may be damned to hell, but not because he bought an Australian V8 with pure racing pedigree built on the backbone of touring car racing that included Walkinshaw Bathurst 1000 challenges, but because he did not hit that smug prius driver square in the nose!
A Land Rover Discovery V8 produces less green house gasses in a 20 year life cycle than a prius produces during its fabrication alone. Then you burn brown coal to power your power stations to produce non green energy to charge the prius. Then at the end of its battery life you need to find some way of discarding highly toxic batteries and then, produce more (while adding to the green house affect).
He should have hit you in the nose for being a racist pig. My wife is not called Sheila, she’s called Yesdear. Wait…. You have a hybid? One that produced untold quantities of greenhouse gasses just to fabricate it? Then he should have hit you in the nose again. Not once damned, not twice damned but thrice damned.
Wait wait, you already had your track day period in your life and now you are denying others, to save a Polar Bear? If I knew what came after Thrice you would be damned to that number as well!!!
Finally, the NCAP rating of a holdern commodore is 5! Here’s the link Mr. “I make out with Polar Bears”, http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleDetail.as... which is a damn site better than my Land Rover Discovery II, which can only make a wheezily 3! Quite honestly I’ve run out of exclamation marks to explain just how many times you Sir (and I use that term as loosely as possible) are damned!!!!!!!............ crap..
the guy was blatantly joking mate, chill out!
So was I. Tried to match his dry humour. Note someone else stated that they cannot tell if he was serious. How did you get that he wasn't serious but I was? Mayhaps my wife's name, a little too realistic for us all!!!! smile

Great car, V8 with monster power. "Mr & Mrs hybrid comment a belter.
Although i have to say its v raw for an everyday car, depends on the usage i s'pose.
I like the fact they still do them with a manual box - gives it an old-skool drivers car character

Fame at last eh Gary?!! hehe
The car is a credit to you. I love the subtle mods you've done since you bought it too.
And for the person who wanted a picture of a red one, here's my old car.....

I just noticed as I passed the VXR8 which parks up our street that it's sporting a 'Bathurst S' badge on the back.

I'm guessing you can just buy the badge or it may it actually be the real I-Am?

Can't honestly remember, but nothing tremendous, it was totally standard except for the exhaust and air intake. I was there more to meet the other owners than to run the car. The HSV and Monaro forum on here is a great community and is one of the best things about having one.

There was always a good turn out of them at the Cosford meet smile

Badge copies are now available on ebay. rolleyes That has only been for a couple of months though, so it could be a real one. There's a register at http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?58... which includes Bathurst and Bathurst S cars.

Interestingly I've just re-read the article and since it was written I've swapped my VXR8 in for another black, but not so black Supercharged VXR8. This one was a low mileage 2009 6.2 LS3 which had just under 7,000 miles on the clock, is fitted with a Harrop HH1900 Supercharger, a re-mapped auto and lowered suspension.

It doesn't have the planet saving LPG conversion that the old one had but to be honest I don't drive it every day, not because I can't afford to but purely as it's my weekend car and I really love the fact that as it's not my daily drive it's even more of an occasion to drive it.

Of course, that's not to say it can't be a daily driver, the miles I racked up on the last one is testimony to that. Certainly with the auto box on the new one it is a very easy daily drive if needed, again as Gary mentioned in his article it's easy to see the plus side of 25 mpg on the motorway, even as much as 30 mpg on an extended motorway run.

The extra power and the noise of the Supercharger is massively addictive and without doubt it's the best car I've ever owned in every respect.

Definitely a big improvement over standard suspension wise, mine is simply the Wortec lowering springs and apart from the front bumper catching on my drive as I go in and out I have no issues in daily use over road speed bumps etc.

I certainly notice that I don't get anywhere near as much out of a tank full as the old car (LPG aside) hehe

It's looking likely that we are emigrating to Oz very soon and I'm in turmoil now whether to take mine with me. Surprisingly there isn't a huge difference in cost shipping mine over Vs buying one locally, used car prices are astronomical in Oz (Perth), but I also need to put my sensible head on and think about the overal outlay Vs extreme traffic policing in Perth and think whether my money is better spent on a 4X4XSomething such as a Toyota FJ Cruiser which I really like and we can't get here.

Problem is, every time I drive the R8 my mind is made up!!
