When they designed it or named it?

I'm reckoning both.
At least we know where the bloke who named the Mazda Bongo Friendee works now.
Given a cute name to appeal to female van drivers? Florists etc?

The Fiat Qubo. I think I like it in a cheap practical car kind of way.

When I worked for Fiat UK I had one of the first in the country to put some miles on it and report any squeks/rattles/faults before it went to the press to try. A bit of a step down from my 159!

I quite like the Qubo as well, it is basically what it says on the tin, a cube on wheels. Cheap, practical if you need moving stuff.

Citroen make a version called Nemo and Peugeot a version called Bipper Tepee.
All got odd names!

biggrin

The reason I stuck my hand up for it is because a) I was doing 40k miles a year so was ideal to put some miles on a car quickly and b) there was a lot of Alfa product due to be launched. Sadly I left only doing the Qubo laugh

I kinda liked it, like someone said, it did what it said on the tin. Vheap motoring, it did a million miles to the gallon and you could cram it full of crap. I did get the piss taken out of me by all of my dealers when I visited though...

I'll be honest, I didn't know we had those either - I know they're quite popular in other markets though

There's just something about the saloon versions of those mid-size hatchbacks that just looks off - Previous gens of Focus have been the same, and the megane, another example

Not sure why it is, maybe because they're adapted from the hatch design, rather than designed as a saloon from the off?

Looks like the rear suspension needs dropped on it to make it look less odd?

Someone could always photoshop this for us smile

If I had seen one of those, I probably thought it was a Mondeo and didn't take a second look.
Completely passed me by that has.

I know an old boy who has a saloon Focus. I've known him since the 1980s.

He always drove a new Orion, latest plate through every generation and moved on through every generation of Focus saloon. He now has a black version of the car above.

I wonder what the psychology is behind it. Is a saloon a 'proper' car?

Maybe it's an older generation thing. Vauxhall seemed to sell plenty of Belmonts back then. Mainly in yellow I seem to remember.

I'm not convinced the current shape Focus Saloon has ever been officially sold in the UK, can only see two on auto trader presumably imported from Ireland or somewhere
