I quite like that. boxedin
I think it was the mix of Rover Metro and Saab 900 that was the problem, not the Saab 900!
Indeed. I like Saab 900's, but not when the back 1/3 is glued onto the rear of a Metro.

Err... it's a bog standard 900. Nothing to do with the Metro.

Look back a couple of pages and you'll see that the Dacia 1310 was likened to the front of a Metro grafted to the rear of a Saab 900.

The Dacia was a recycled Renault 12 from the early 70s and pre-dated the Saab.
Back then, many cars had drooping boots.
In the course of looking, I came across the Brazilian Ford Corcel which was based on a ... yes, you've guessed it, Renault 12.

Ah yes - the drooping boot line. The stting dog stance, as favoured by Mercedes and (to a lesser degree) Audi these days

I rather like the Renault 12. There's someone round these parts still daily-driving one, white, utterly immaculate...

There were many cars I used to dislike which now have a certain retro chic and a lot of potential.

Lloyd? one for sale near me £1500.
Apparently they made @300000 units.
Never heard of them. Trabantesque.
If this wins the thread, ICMFP.
Is the advert online? Do you have a link?
before i answer that...how much are they really worth biggrin ?
Seeing as how Messerschmidt bubble cars of the period cost £10k+
ahhh the advert is two cars, one part renovated, one a basket case.
They sell for about £3-6k when done up:

Here is the advert I saw, ignore the pink one at the end, he is keeping that one.

My mate lives nearby so will look if you ask him nicely biggrin (im too miserable)
Used to be the 3rd best seller in Germany in 1959 when times were 'ard.
Edit just been on the website....probably should be on the juvenile things that make you snigger thread........

Borgward is another manufacturer that time has forgotten.

Until now I've never really wanted an MX5, a tin top looks really rather nice (I've seen images from the front but never the rear).

My dad had a light grey 12 Estate back in the early 70s.
