I thought it wasn't being engineered for right hand drive, so Ireland weren't getting it either?
I pass a Renault dealer going home every evening (in Ireland) and haven't seen one, so looks like we don't get them either.

Is it just me or does that look very similar to a kia optima(the Fiat Tipo)? component sharing maybe??

The optima is bigger, the Tipo is a C-seg saloon, the Optima D-seg. The wheel base on the Optima is a good 17cm longer.

The style is similar though, Kia is really making strides in getting their cars looking modern and european(ish)

q30 apparently.
Funnily enough I saw one of these on the road yesterday, quite a handsome thing for a horrible blobby crossover. Much rather have this than a merc GLA for example.

Cycled past the dealer ship the other day, one of only a couple or so in the country.
The clue is in your user name.

You're looking at around £55k plus for one of those. My Mazda dealer has a couple in the showroom, i'm not sold. Seeing as it's based on a Mk3 when the ND is now out.

The Infiniti Q30 is the saloon version there is also a a QX30 version which is more crossoverish.
Not sure that many will get into the market place as I imagine there are not that many Infiniti dealers around.

After seeing the video of the sideways rotating tyres that is everywhere at the moment, the US market Toyota Echo is a new one to me, basically a 2 door saloon mk1 Toyota Yaris.

Yes but with subtle differences and coupe versions never available on a Cortina and also different engines available.

We drove to Denmark in the early 80s to see my Mums's friend she'd met on an exchange trip, a long in the back of Datsun Cherry Coupe. Loads of Taunus's around, they had a 2 door Volvo 240.

The 1989 Ford Festiva Shogun.

That looks like that thing Ford did in conjunction with Kia which Kia sold as the Pride. Seems Ford did a mental version, pretty cool!
I remember a yellow fast Festiva in a late 80's/early 90's issue of a magazine from when I was a teenage car nut. It was probably Fast Car. Not sure what the spec of that one was now.

The Q30 is a hatchback. The QX30 is also a hatchback. The main difference between the two is that the QX is a little higher and has roofbars, and all the QX30's are AWD and 2.2D, The Q30 has a 1.5D/2.2D and a 1.6T/2.0T with AWD being available on the 2.2D and 2.0T.

Had a Q30S (2.2D/AWD) as a loaner when my car went in for a service, it's a genuinely nice car, went through the gears very well, rode much better than an A-Class (Although I think the Q30 and QX30 are both more related to the gla?)

On a more topical note, I followed a Honda Logo through town the other day.

You'd want a big engine over there, to outrun all the lions, cheetahs and hippopotamuses.
