One of these has just turned up in the car park at work, Proton Satria its an 07 plate. Appears to actually designed/made by Proton with a Mitsubishi engine and a "handling by lotus" badge. Its the same colour as the first picture too.
The owner has an 100 mile round trip commute, so I suspect its been bought cheap and will be run to the death. It replaces a complete shed of a 5 series that someone rear ended.

Toyota Curren.
An oddity of the Japanese market.

Essentially it's a Gen6 Celica.

"The Toyota Curren was a Japanese automobile built by the Toyota Motor Corporation. It was based on the Toyota T200 chassis. It shared the same interior and rear end design as the 1994-1998 Toyota Celica coupé. Instead of having four round headlights like the Celica, it had a rectangular headlight design providing a more traditional halogen headlight appearance. Modifying the appearance of the Celica allowed Toyota to sell the Curren at Toyota Vista Store locations, as the Celica was exclusive to Toyota Corolla Store locations. The Curren directly replaced the Toyota Corona Coupe, which was exclusive to Toyopet Store locations"

I've never heard of a Toyota Curren. Apart from the stupid name, it looks about a million times better than the related Celica
None on howmanyleft apparently. I'm 90% sure I saw one in the UK about a year ago, at the time I had no idea what it was other than looking a lot like a Celica from the back and having a Toyota badge. Chances are that any in the UK are probably registered as a Celica though.SonicShadow said:
