Apart from it needing it's bonnet shutting properly, what actually is it?
Yeah, I popped the bonnet to take A peek but took the picture before opening it.

It's a SsangYong Chairman. 3.6.
Got all the toys, air ride suspension, electric everything,

the key question is how much he paid for a s class older body and engine. considering you can get a s type for 15k it would be crazy to buy something that will be difficult to resell.

He paid £0
He works for the SY importer and it's the only one in the UK.

Yes you can buy a used S Class for £15k but it will be starship mileage and a money pit.

Once there was a meeting where some bloke at Toyota said "lets import Lexus" and the world said " you can buy a used Merc for less"

If you think a conversation went "lets import Lexus" took part then you don't know much about Lexus.

My point was that just because you can buy a used Merc for the money, doesn't mean that no-one will buy a new brand car that costs the same or more.

Yes but Lexus was created specifically to separate it from the Toyota image. Here in the UK Ssangyong has a terrible image to start with and it takes a long long time to recover from that. Buying a new luxury Ssangyong would be financial suicide.

Toyota had a reputation for producing well made reliable cars. Ssangyong have a reputation for making dirt cheap cars that nobody buys? Making ugly cars? Okay so Toyota are catching up with that last point biggrin

Not sure whether this has been mentioned before, but the Suzuki SX4 saloon is a rarity (probably for a reason). Oddly proportioned for a saloon. Very tall and narrow.

They sure do, they had the Swift saloon as well, I think it only came in 1.6 4x4 flavour in the UK. There was one local driven by the biggest woman I've ever seen and the poor thing leaned badly to one side even when she wasn't in it any more, not unlike the person in this photo, it must attract them.

They had the Baleno too which I think was some link with Proton at the time.

Citroën Berlingo électrique

.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_Berling...

http://www.berlingo-e.co.uk/

Was at a supermarket and heard something electric glide into the space next to me... look over to see a rattly (not actually rattling) old white van.

The driver then gets out to lock the other side of the car as it doesn't even have central locking!

Sign on the side says "Electric" so I have to go off to Google.

Range is quite poor though, even by electric car standards. Love these early EVs.

That reminded me about the Nissan Leaf van I saw on Friday, front end of a Leaf and rear of a van. No idea on range as haven't checked. Although theoretically you could put more batteries in for a greater range that also increases weight which I'm guessing reduces payload weights.

I guess it's supposed to be reminiscent of the old SC100 ?
