Saw something drive past today Ive never seen before - not sure what it was.

White, looked very 90's, almost a Quattro profile. Had a big vinyl sticker across the back that Im pretty sure said 'Quantum'.

Any ideas?

Edit - google to the rescue. Quantum Saloon apparently. Old kit car. Not a particularly attractive thing.

Shame it was limited to only 2WD and the venerable 1.9 TDI 105 engine. But I guess they didn't want it to tread on the toes of the Tiguan which went on sale around the same time!

built by Pininfarina in 69, based on a 300SEL 6.3

it's ugly, but doesn't it remind you of Sacco's 126 coupe? he just built a bit more of a 'coke-bottle hip' into it and got rid of the ugly headlight surround

Definitely. From the end of the doors back to the rear it is very similar.

I got a whole load of stick on here once for saying that I'd never heard of a Range Rover Evoque. Very strange. At the time I genuinely hadn't heard of them, but I have now seen one. smile

I think it must be a regional thing. I got so much hassle for it though - took up about two pages of a thread! confused Now that I know what they are I can confirm that I virtually never see them, despite doing about 40k miles a year. I see standard RRs a lot, and a few RRSs, but no Evoques.

I work on King street in Manchester, every other car is a Range Rover of some kind, the other 50% is BMW/Audi/Porka

Very different to here - I live in West Berkshire, work in North Hampshire and travel to Dorset once or twice a week. I see a complete mix of all makes and models of car, but very few expensive cars like new RRs or Porsches etc. The only unusual bias is there are a lot of Land Rovers near where I live, but that's because the type of land and farming where I am (estate owned land, small fields with lots of copses and a scattering of token livestock - the estates buy their groundsmen LRs to look after things).

Hundreds of them here, only ever in black or white. In fact, I see one pretty much every day within minutes of leaving my apartment (it's mine...)

Seeing as we're doing pointless Brazilian Fords:

The Ka Sedan. We'll be getting the rather charmless five-door hatchback for some reason.
