Whilst playing forza with my 11 year old son last night he started asking how many of the cars in the game were older than me (still plenty thankfully), he then asked me if I'd ever owned a real car that was older than me and despite owning some weird and wonderful stuff over the years the only one i've had older than me was my first car, a 1973 Mini Clubman in 1993 when I was 18.

With the recent scrappage scheme and cars increasingly being seen as disposable white goods I suspect it will become an increasingly rare occurence, not to mention it becoming increasingly difficult to achieve with one's advancing years.

So how many of you out there are currently running round in something that was here before you?

my mk1 golf project car is '83, i was born in '88.

Its ridiculous how many young uns now regard my 1996 car as some kind of pre war relic.

Thankfully the little guy has been brought up properly and wants a Mk1 Golf as his first car, seriously considering buying him one now and putting it away for him while they are still reasonable value for money.
