I really miss mine, especially as I recently stumbled upon it on eBay (albeit for a ridiculously inflated price).

Good fun down back roads, a great GT car for longer runs, and it coped extremely well in snow.

I had a '92 rev2 for a track car. After it had been sat for a while it was pretty rough to drive, after giving it hell up at knockhill for a couple of hours it drove beautifully, good ol' Italian tune up wink

It was a cracking car, had to sell due to moving. Funny thing was it only ever cost about £50 to get it through MOT's, far less than my Clio 172!

The advertised car is 100% Uk spec. They did not offer the sunroof version in Japan.

The heaviest version is the T-bar, followed by the Sunroof then the Tin-top (import only).

The Revision 2 featured bigger brakes as well as a deeper front splitter, a cold start injector, a catalytic converter (which stole about 4bhp), the suspension also differed in that the rear tie rods were connected to the subframe further out to the sides of the car. A 15" staggered wheel setup was added (previously the Rev1 was non-staggered). A Better stubby gear knob was included, different colour options, the 119bhp economy engine was killed off (thankfully!) and the steering wheel got much prettier (the original was minging).

As for the wear on the steering wheel on the advertised car - this is due to sunlight deterioration of the leather - it really affected the MR2.

Yes, I am an MR2 geek.....

Here is another one. I'm selling a revision 3 1994 T - Bar MR2

It has had improvements to improve mostly the engine. It's a responsive 2L engine in a relitivly lightweight sportscar just above one ton.

Quick question , and apologies for brevity as I'm typing this on an iPhone ,but if you bought one of these that had been well and truly 'Barried' - Roughly how much is the stock exhaust system ? I can probably live with most mods like suspension tweaks etc, but i couldn't handle the noise one of those Nur Spec pipes makes ....

Someone earlier in the thread has said how much the stock steel exhaust weighs. You may want to check out non-OE systems that actually provide some silencing.

I hate loud pipes too, but then I live besides a busy road abd have had floors and ceilings ceilings rattled by the racket from cars and motorcycles, I think one was a 306 with just a back box on it.

Less than £100, the money you'd get back from a Nur Spec would more than cover it.

Finding one which is still shiny might be difficult though...

The stock exhaust is very heavy - you'd be better off spending the money from selling a Nur Spec on getting a stainless steel custom one made up - if you tell them you don't want any more noise than stock, they can do that.

I presume that applies only the the normally aspirated versions since there are plenty of turbos with sunroofs.

interesting - I had an MX-5 a few years ago. it was a little bit boring, and so I had it turbo'd- the guys that did it recommended adding a cat free exhaust at the same time as the turbo kit, which I agreed to. The car frankly sounded ridiculous - every time I see a skyline with a 3 inch diameter exhaust, I sudden as it takes me back to being embarrassed about driving up the high street.

Cheers, Ace

I have a Janspeed system on my NA Mk2, and I think its pretty good - its quiet when pottering around town, not invasive at 70ish on the motorway, but loud when you go WOT. Although, most of the cabin noise still comes from the induction kit. The Janspeeds were a fair few hundred when new (mine came on the car when I bought it), but a custom place would be able to do it for half the cost.

Nope - the only sunroof Mk2 Turbo's are conversions like mine, or USA cars. Are you mixing up sunroofs with T-bar roofs?

The Mongoose is the most appropriate N/A exhaust for the Mk2. Subtle noise, easy to live with but makes you aware it is there when driving hard. Not in any way annoying / chavvy.

No, my Rev 2 GTS had a sunroof as did several other GTS's when I was looking (I deliberately avoided the T Bar). I assumed they came from the factory like that, but maybe some of them were added after purchase in Japan? (mine had Japanese writing on the opening mechanism)

No shortage of these around. My neighbour has one sulking in the parking area on SORN, he wants £500

I've been heavily into MR2's for over 10 years and it is a well known fact that the only Turbos' with a Sunroof went to the US.

Post up a link to a sunroof Turbo.......

This was mine. I can't find a really clear pic of the sunroof, but you can see it.

And here is one on eBay:

The blue one on the link is a converted UK car (says it in the description) the GTi-16 badge on the back and UK spec side indicators also give it away.

As for yours - it had the JDM side repeaters so looks like an import, but also has UK/EU front indicator lamps that have white sidelight squares. This might have been put on for the SVA test when imported, but if it was a genuine Turbo with Sunroof then you had a seriously rare car. Perhaps it was a development car?

If I found a T-Bar turbo - was that a combination available from the factory, or would that only have been possible by turbo'ing an N/A T-bar

£460 with a year's MoT. Just as well I was distracted before the end otherwise I may have been tempted.
