I might be stretching the brief a little but I nominate the "Brooklands" silencer which includes the distinctive flared tailpipe. It isn't marque specific but it is, I believe, iconic.

David87 said: Although I don't particularly like them, these: I love the Zonda, but for many years I hated the exhausts. I now think that it is part of the design that makes the whole car just work - Although not iconic as such, I also like the exhaust tips on your Ford.

There was an Astra GTE/GSI which had square tail pipes but I liked the flattened look of the 3.0 24V Senator ones.

Back in the day a good way to tell if that e32 was a genuine 750 or not was the squared off tail pipes. Not sure why BMW chose to fit these to the 750 only - but i love em for that reason!

Here is another one I like Standard E36 M3 exhaust, with offset pipes. I often spot knock-off "M3"s because their generic Sportex twin backbox has equal length tips, but most people would spot the ebay wheels or slightly wonkily applied M3 badge first.

First thing I did to mine was put a proper OEM exhaust back on. Luckily that was all the previous owner had done, why do people do it!!

A good exhaust upgrade for an old M3 is a decent mod to let that straight 6 howl out, but only on the condition that it's got the correct tailpipe lengths and pipe diameter, and is vocal but not too loud, and well built to boot. Getting all that pretty much means custom more than likely, which is a good shout I think. However, if it's a cheap ebay "sport" exhaust vs and OEM, the OEM would be back on there in an instant until a decent custom piece was fabricated.
