S10GTA said: Let's hope it all comes off swimmingly. I have to replace the GTA somehow, and I thought retro cool might fill the void. From the description it sounds like it moves by itself - I'd be inclined to drive it home. Whip the two wheels off down to kwik fit, and then see how far you get on your way to the pre-booked MOT next to your house. I'm sure it will be fine.

I couldn't sleep last night. I lay awake till gone 2, excited like a little child.
I used my time constructively, and went on Shipley. I have had my first quote back this morning, and its 350 quid. This is much better than I imagined.

Great find OP!
Not sure if I would be tempted to drive it to a pre-booked MOT near home or not...
There was a thread a little while back discussing the legality of doing this over quite a distance (the chap with the old Samba's iirc, can't be arsed to find the thread!)
The consensus seemed to be that it wasn't technically illegal as long as the car was in a 'roadworthy' condition, i.e. not actually dangerous. Difficult for you to ascertain this though obviously OP...
Here's an idea! I wonder if there are any mechanically competent PH'ers in Ayrshire who could (for the price of a good piss up, say) pop over to see the car to check whether the brakes work/electrics operate/wheels aren't going to fall off etc?
If it does appear to be roadworthy, the OP can take his brave pills and buy a one way train ticket to Scotland! (keeping us updated on this thread as well, 'natch)

My gas guzzler , and anything else big enough to tow a car trailer , would be looking at £100 of petrol just to the border and back , from Ayrshire .

S10GTA at 23:55 said: I've placed a bid on a car. It needs collecting on a trailer. It ends in 10 mins.
It's 445 miles away.
Oh cock. S10GTA at 23:57 said: I feel slightly better, its only 444 miles away. Based on certain assumptions, by my calculations you are moving at 30mph. You posted this 9 hours and 6 minutes ago, so by now you are only 171 miles away from the car. You will arrive at the car at about 14:45 this afternoon. Then you've just got to make it home.
