Indeed. An Audi A6 needing servicing near that tiny collection of villages called Leeds & Bradford would be a good case in point.

Given it has Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda and many other manufacturer dealers, I question any value from this service...

Oh, I understand that not all manufacturers will be covered in all areas. I'm still a bit disappointed that living in the middle of nowhere, my car, made by a bloke-in-a-shed, has no-one that can look after it.

That would be a BMW in Edinburgh. Bravo, Shell, bravo.

This is an utterly pointless service - anyone who knows what they drive and where they live, can google those two facts and find a local dealer - its not like there are 3 BMW dealers per town touting for business!

Shell, please spend the money on reducing your fuel prices - it will get you far more business!

You're absolutely right. I just typed various makes of car and locations in to yell.com and got hundreds of results instantly.

Why not just use that?

Perhaps you're too young to remember</condescending git> but the reason Argos' online presence originally failed 12 years ago was because they only added a limited selection to their website. If you're going to do this, don't promote it until your database is packed with businesses. You've got one chance with people to get it right. Do you think any PHer is going to return to check if the database is more populated? Or Granny Miggins who doesn't know much about cars? No, they along with Granny Miggins will just go on Google (or at least get her grandson to search on Google).

Why say you're listening to feedback and then roundly ignore it?

Stop it Shell, just stop it. Don't waste any more money on it and consign it to the bin. It won't work, ever.

'Servicing by Shell'...why would anyone want that; it's a bit like Durex moving into midwifery... ;-)

As has been said before; FAIL!!!

BMW in central Manchester. No participating dealers. Note I have to walk past a BMW main dealer to get back to my car when I'm finally free of the orifice.

Fail.

The only dealers listed on their website are those that use shell oil, supplied by them wink

It's just a poorly executed, thinly veiled marketing attempt by them

2 months on, and having paid PH to run this campaign, still no sign of anyone from Shell to respond to their target audience. Social media fail if ever I saw one!

Dear PHers,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. The Shell Car Servicing Network is an online referral system which is intended to help both motorists who find it confusing to navigate the car servicing world and also to support some of our franchise workshop customers with an outlet to offer their services through.

At this early stage of the launch of the service, and as the network coverage continues to grow, availability for some manufacturers may be limited in certain parts of the country.
We are working hard to increase coverage and include more participants from Shell's franchise dealer network in the Shell Car Servicing Network.

The dealers have full control over the prices they offer on the website and Shell does not engage into any pricing decisions or discussions and is completely neutral to this process in order to ensure transparency and allow motorists to make the decision of choosing a dealer at their own discretion.

We value your comments and suggestions for improvements and are well aware of the level of collective expertise and car knowledge which is manifested in this forum.

If you require any further details regarding this service, send us feedback at contactus@carservicing.shell.co.uk.

Best Regards
The Shell Car Servicing Network Team

piss poor idea and website. Just tried my fiesta st. one dealer within 15 miles. I stay in central scotland! its a ford fiesta! Hardly fancy metal.

Service and Mot was £100 more than what I paid for mines last week.

What the hell is the point, who is actually going to use it these days to shell really think people are that stupid that they cant phone local garages to obtain prices for themselves.
