Mazda in Hampshire? no. Not that i'd take it to a dealer. Autolink for me!

It's very annoying having to drive past a convenient Shell garage selling super for £1.39.9 when the supermarket 2 miles further is selling super for £1.30.9
Our local Shell has been a building site for the past year, being re-done. The initial re-opening date they posted on the hoardings was January.. It's still not open.

Annoying as it was competitive, usually only a penny dearer than Asda, 2 miles away.

My 14yo shed of a mondeo. Quoted £119 ~10 miles away.
That's sold me then - 14yo Mondeo for my next car or I'll never be able to find somewhere to get anything else serviced biggrin
Well it'll be for sale on ebay next month, £1 start, no reserve! smile
Now, all I have to do now is find a manual petrol 5-series touring, seems that's easier than finding somewhere to service it....

"Johnny Ellis, UK sales manager, Shell Lubricants said: “We believe the launch of The Shell Car Servicing Network will be a welcome lead generation tool for many main dealers and franchised workshops, which might have seen a decline in car servicing bookings recently.”
http://www.motortrader.com/latest-news/shell-launc...

So I'm guessing that it's only for franchises that use Shell lubricants then?
Which is why I can't find a VW or Mazda dealer.

With the collective knowledge on this site + Google maps API, it would be easy to have a searchable database of recommended specialists (and even main dealers).
Then we take a referral fee for each PH Booking and then put that behind the bar at BT&P. Or buy bacon sandwiches at Goodwood.

They're too busy crucifying the idiot who suggested the idea and invested all that money in the website's development.

A website detailing the cheapest Shell petrol station in a 3 mile radius with a price promise to beat competitors by 1p would have had me clicking on the link...

Interestingly, I received a voucher at the end of my Sainsbury's shop last week saying that I'd overpaid by 50p and now had 50p off my next shop. Guess where I'm shopping this week? Keeping it relevant, they also sell petrol 2p cheaper than the nearest Shell garage.

It's mad, isn't it, the amount of loyalty a relatively small amount of money will generate. Sometimes I feel like a right idiot - spending £10 I didn't really need to spend in order to get a fuel voucher that will give me a saving of £2 on a tank hehe

That's nothing, some people think it's a great idea to spend 10k+ on a new car to save a few mpg... wink

No Volkswagen, BMW or Ford near me, apparently. Shouldn't they have held off the launch until they had enough garages in the database to make it useful?

hehe I've never took them up on their "spend £50 to get 5p/litre off" as my shop is usually about £15-20. It'd make more sense to buy an extra £10 of petrol and set fire to it. nuts

Congratulations Shell - if this website explains the rise in your V-Power by a penny then please stop it. Just stop it now.

OK, the garage 100 metres from work does a lot of TVR work, and Fernhurst & APM are just up the road so I'll just "Browse other franchises nearby" smile

Result..."Drive Vauxhall Aldershot" rolleyes

there are no participating VW dealers near by

there are no participating Audi dealers near by

Not that I would use it, but I thought I would check. For the wife's MG ZR, the MG garage less than a mile away is not partaking, instead I would have to go to Mazda. Hmmmmmm

What a complete and utter stupid thread. Who even started it? It's spam at best and the person should be banned. And even then the site doesn't even work. I'm in Leeds (ie. no tinpot village in the back of beyond) and according to the site :

Sorry, there are no VOLKSWAGEN dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no AUDI dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no MERCEDES dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no FORD dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no TVR dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no RANGE ROVER dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no LOTUS dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no BMW dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no SKODA dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby
Sorry, there are no NISSAN dealerships participating in the Shell Car Servicing Network nearby

Mods, remove this pointless thread please. rolleyes

Well that's a bit of their advertising budget smartly wasted then, isn't it!

Haymarket, how much would a thread like this have cost Shell?

It does have comedy potential though - who can get the silliest quote out of it?

I put my shed in it - surprisingly there aren't any Rover dealers participating biggrin

The nearest alternative for a full service on my 1995 Rover 218 Diesel is to take it to BMW/MINI Reading for the grand sum of £229 (i.e. about the cost of the car!)
