Not a 123D, that's what I've got and I like it.

Want the same but MORE.

Coupe, saloon, estate, hatch, doesn't matter.

Do all roads lead to 330D?

I loved my 123d too. Have you remapped your's? It's like a different car after that.

I haven't tried a manual 330d. The auto was good, but you may find it a bit laggy next to the 123d as it only has one turbo.

Civic type s, accord type s, 330d, but tbh if it's fun you want petrol is the answer.

If you haven't already, remap your 123d to 330d power levels or above.

Not necessarily Schuey.

I came out of a S2000 into my 123d coupe and I love it.

So, a re-map is the answer?

I was booked in for one but did the 'warranty bottle out' the day before the appointment.

201 bhp and 400nm, i can think of much nicer petrols with better power delivery and more poke. Personally I'd rather have the s2000. The only advantage of diesel is economy and economy is boring hehe

I can think of petroleum with far worse power figures too, fun does NOT automatically point towards a petrol powered car, I have had more fun and enjoyment out of my diesel BMW tourers than I could muster out of my Golf VR6 and R32

OP I'd remap the 123d it possibly the best combination of power, economy and handling in its class

Never driven either but is 335d over 330d not the right direction?

330D for me with a remap. Might be more laggy, but you'll have an improved engine note to compensate.

If it must be manual.

Remap a 330d they will push 309bhp

Or remap a 4.0ltr v8 a8
Or well let's be honest here we all know BMW make the best diesels in the world the other makes are always playing catchup. Only this year have Audi managed a sequential turbo 3ltr... Un BMW had it in 2004. BMW now offer 3 turbos upping the game again.

It's a shame BMW don't offer a proper 4ltr v8 sequential turbo beast.

If you remap it to reduce torque you could swap the auto box for the manual. ... Costly and would kill resale and would be slower but whatever floats yer boat

My 330d is a great car, probably the best I've owned. Comfortable, quick, reliable, looks great ( it is an E46 mind) very good on fuel. It's also infinitely more boring to drive than my old 328i thanks to the engine up front. Personally I'd pick a BMW with a nice 6 cylinder engine before they start to disappear, such as a 135i or 330i. Much more fun, and not much more to run either.

Will leave my pass on the way out. Haha.

Is this really auto only? Why? Technical reason or just target market?

I thought that 330d was single turbo and 335d was twin turbo both 3ltr?

Maybe I dreamt reading that (quite possible)! smile

They don't really need to, they make a 380bhp/560ftlb torque six cylinder to fill that niche.
