soft suspension + st UK roads = a good UK car
Its nowhere near soft - my wife thinks its rock hard. It is stiff but fairly compliant in the way a 997 GT3 is.

Yeah, I love the idea but that has just a bit too much "Max Power" about it.
Max Power is a boot spoiler on a 1 litre Saxo. Nothing on this car is out of place, and certainly won't look it as one passes you sideways in a cloud of tortured ex-rubber.
That rear spoiler is almost certainly doing fk-all for a roadcar - apart from making you look like you're searching for your youth (or someone else's) smile

And the fact that you can order it without said thingie on the back? ......................

Case Proven Beyond All Reasonable Doubt judge

Sideways in a cloud of tortured rubber? 9 times out of 10 and on a track, that's purely for show-boating and far from the quickest way and on the road, Go Straight To Jail (and on the Sex Offenders Register hehe), Do Not Pass Go.

Does anyone know the specification of the C63 Black series suspension? Is it the same as the AMG Performance suspension option for the standard C63?

Faster doesn't always mean better wink
(in the context of being a road car)

Big fan of all three!
Then you should get a GSX1000R

That's just a regular C63 coupe isn't it?

In any case, it can't be the perfect road car when it's as ugly as it is.

People would also laugh at you if you drove around in one fully kitted up like the one in the article.
Perhaps he should have had: "the perfect road car... for people who love driving, maybe not so much for people who care what others think about them all the time."

It has a fk off look and noise & go to match. Therefore, it's perfect.

Mercedes said:
As on the SLS AMG GT3, “flics” on the front apron and a front splitter with integrated spoiler lip work together to reduce lift on the front axle. The carbon-fiber rear wing is placed atop CNC-milled aluminum supports on the trunk lid, and the angle can be manually adjusted by the driver. Adjustment requires only a few simple steps. Two modes are available: Stage 1 -- with 0 degrees angle of attack -- results in zero-lift generated at the rear axle. Stage 2 -- with 4 degrees angle of attack -- increases the effective wing downforce on the rear axle, without appreciably increasing lift at the front of the car. Stage 2 is recommended for track use, as the stability benefits from the higher downforce at the rear axle are especially useful in fast corners.

The aerodynamic balance of the car, as enhanced by the AMG Aero package, was carefully calibrated in wind tunnels and test runs on various high-speed tracks. Moreover, when analyzing the aerodynamic data, the AMG aero package improves downforce and chassis balance with a negligible increase in drag.
Image is all people care about anymore. It's a pity, Mercedes have obviously built a great drivers car that can still actually be fun on British roads but instead the focus is just: "that rear spoiler [sic]".

This is exactly why Lotus should just build a car for the masses rather than worry about the few petrolheads that are left who still care about how a car drives irrespective of the image it portrays.

Its very easy for all the trolls out there. Don't tick that box, you'll have a sensational road car and save yourself £6k in the process. If you ditch the matt black for normal black, you'll be even more under the radar

I have a GTR and drove my friends Black Edition Merc. Thanks to my broad shoulders (and I'm not that big!) I could just about squeeze into the bucket seats that had little adjustment, luckily my drive was not going to be hours long otherwise you would of needed a crow-bar to get me out.

Performance wise, it is no-where near as quick as the GTR mainly due to the fact it just can't get the power down and when it did, you could feel the back twitching which is a shame. The engine sounded great, but it is more show than go as you just can't use the power if you want spirited driving.

It does look and sound great though, really great! If I wanted a weekend car to take down to the shops and back then I would consider it. However I want a car that I can drive everyday anywhere at any time be it in the city or making use of the performance when I am out on the country roads which is why I have the GTR, not to mention it has a boot I can use.

Was the Merc more comfortable to drive than the GTR? no way!

Not to worry. Maybe a car that is even slower, say a Porsche Carrera s at 113k, will be competitive?

Some people just dont get it what a waste of money these extravagences are.

I think the GTR is an incredible piece of kit, and makes many far more expensive cars pale into insignificance.

Didn't ol' Clarkson say that the earlier model was as uncomfortable as sitting on a cairn? If so, he ought to get his old bones down to the nearest M-B Dealer and trade his in! hehe

He also made a unit of "torques" and said you have to work in IT to drive a BMW.

For heavens sake leave it alone.

You've got a chip on your shoulder about expensive cars as you view it exclusively in terms of numbers on paper, we get it.
