I really like this. Would go for a manual and get Birds to stick a diff on it. That said if I was going to spend that sort of coin on a motor i'd probably opt for a few years old E92 M3.

Mr E said: Looks to be bloody good value, as discussed. I assume that engine will make it into a 3 and 5 series? Is this not the same lump as is already available in the 335i then? ETA: Hmm it's not is it? More power and more torque. I'd assume the 335i will quietly be upgraded to this engine fairly soon.

Clearly an impressive car from the review, but just look at the state of it FFS. It takes "ugly" to a whole new level. You'd need to park it in the next street from your house so you wouldn't be able to see it. Or buy a cover for it.

when I first saw the new 1 series I thought it was horrible, but with this chunky body kit I think it actually looks quite good, more interesting than an audi rs3 anyway. loving the colour too

Does one assume that since this isn't simply a 135i, but rather an M135i, it's a slightly different set-up - i.e. M-division will have had some input despite it not being an M-car? Would one have to wait for an M335i, for example?

I doubt the M-division had a great deal of input into it, although I'm happy to be proven wrong.

A body kit.

Well priced, good spec, sadly BMW are losing out in a big way to Mercedes & maybe even VW on the styling of their cars. There's not one angle that car looks good from. Maybe that £30k Golf GTi that we all thought was pricey, isn't that bad after all?

I was a bit sceptical about these "M Performance" branded versions of regular BMW's as I was worried that they would dilute the appeal of proper full fat M cars by only having marginally less performance, but you really can't argue with that price tag. Saying that I would take that price tag with a pinch of salt as BMW options list can sting! The astra vxr might be 3k cheaper but I think we all know which one will hold its value better!

If you want a £30k Golf, buy one. Similarly if you want an M3 along with high running costs and everything that goes with it, get that.
BUT, as the ultimate, versatile daily driver that's discreet and practical, this is hard to beat.
Now come forth M235i, so I may suckle on your teet.

This hasn't been mentioned on here for a few days so I think I'll do the honors.... "...but....but.....you could have a used 997 for that price...".

Does this variant of the engine still suffer from the HPFP issues that plagued the 135i/335i?

That is weird, I was pondering what the front aspect reminds me of, I was thinking one of the robots fromt eh film "Batteries Not Included" but it wasnt that and strangely after the initial slight revultions and thoughts of "Why did they do that to the front", I looked back and couldnt see what I was offending me in the first place, it grew on me, how do BMW produce some strange and quite awkward looking cars that actually grow on you like that ?
I am of sound mind and body and have only had one glass of a rather mediocre supermarket Merlot.

Now, as far as I can remember, the standard spec included in the base price is actually quite generous. For BMW at least. Leather & xenons etc. Certainly it seems that once you spec up a 125i to standard/base M135i spec, it's only a grand or 2 cheaper...

I want to dislike the looks based on all the 1 series I have seen so far... but I really like this one. Wheel/bodykit tart!
135, M135 and 1M is confusing though, will they have a new 1M?
