My Boxster is called noddy, the Scirrocco is called scrappy. i think most of my cars have had names but i'm not sure why or who came up with all of them, though it was my girlfriend who named both the current cars.

Obviously being the powerfully built, goatee sporting, company director that I am, I called her a silly hoe, smashed her back doors in then performed a burnout on the drive, paid cash for some new tyres and..... proceeded to call the cars by the names she had perscribed

I don't name my cars, but if I had to pick a name it'd be female (I'm male). One often refers to a ship as 'she' and to me that convention carries on to most vehicles.

Only car I've ever named was my old Merc, I used to refer to it as the Messerschmitt 190E. Only because I find it amusing. Everything else just gets referred to as it's model name.

Are there not already enough uninformed opinions clogging up threads with pointless arguments between people incapable of admitting that they are wrong?

Hmm, names - neither, Arabella, Gina, Babette, Stumpy, Merv the Swerve, Nadine, Lucy, Rosie, Gretchen.

That is from a long list - some get names but some never inspire a name. The above covers Cortina, Alfasud, R5 GTT, Imp, Mini, Corvette, Camaro, Mustang and Golf.

My mate had Eric, Kevin, Lynford among others.

I think if you utilise a male name, it has to be a stupid name like Bert or Sid or Stan.

I usually have one of my female friends name my cars for me. She does it well. They are always boys names, but I think cars SUIT boys names.

I have named ours; 'my car' and 'your car'

It works seamlessly when cars are bought/sold.

1st was a Pug GTi called Sophie and the S names stuck with every car I've had since.

Current is called Serendipity (Primarily because buying it was a sort of accident) Hmmm,

I think the most apt was a Corrado VR6 called Sloane, she drank like a fish.

I'll get me coat....
