I'd take it over a 458 anyday.
Fantastic .
Same here.Fantastic .
Saw the same colour on the one they bought to Goodwood FOS this year (non spider version). Under the tree canopy at the start of the hill run it looked great, but when it caught the sun, it looked absolutely breath taking!!
Maybe it's just me but I'm bored with watching cars being driven badly - drifting like that either means the handling is pretty dangerous or the driver is showing off that he/she can power oversteer. Either way it's a slow way to get round a corner and rather spoils the message that this is F1 feel. Hamilton generally gets pole when he has the fewest slides
Yet another unfortunate result from the idiot Clarkson who rarely likes a car he cannot shred the tyres on.
Apart from that, I might buy one.

Past its best before date. Surely they can think of more meaningful ways of showing the CAR's attributes.I wasn't a huge fan of the coupe, just found it a little too clinical and boring but this is definately more like it. Adds back some much needed drama to the whole thing. The roof mechanism is a work of art and it looks 10 x better than the coupe with the roof down.
I'd still like them to do something about that horribly fussy front but this is a malaise that seems to effect nearly all modern Supercars these days, even the new Pagani Huayra looks crap from the front.

It's just that most open top Ferraris I ever see are usually driven by fat balding blokes with baseball caps to keep the sun off their pate. Don't be offended if you've got one or perhaps just the anorak, some people like branded wear
Haha so true. A 458 spider went past my work the other day with a rich fat old bloke in and I just thought "nice car but you look so out of place in it". Need to be under 40 or JK to look the part in a Ferrari.Gotta say though I hated the Mclaren Coupe but this Spider really does have appeal somehow.

Don't understand the comment. So to drive a Ferrari you need to be young, fit and rich? Does this "gem" of wisdom apply to a McLaren or McLaren drivers can be bold, fat, ugly and rich? Gotta say though I hated the Mclaren Coupe but this Spider really does have appeal somehow.

The folding hard top looks very similar to the 458 but I guess there are only so many ways you can make that work. Interesting that they both came up with essentially the same solution-I wonder if Ferrari knew McLaren were doing the same and wanted to beat them?
Or we're they both done by Webasto roof systems........hmmmmThe entire video looks like a CGI to me and the effect is anodyne which is unfortunate for something that clearly has a great deal of soul. Perhaps brilliant engineers aren't that good at selling cars? I have seen a couple of MP412C (non roadsters) in the flesh and it looks and sounds incredible IMHO. If I had the brass, I'd definitely be having the roadster.

I like that foldable hard top. Now what McLaren should make is a THREE seater spider to differentiate themselves from just about all others.
Not sure the 3rd seat and central driving position is a simple retro fit modification though.I agree, though from the outset if this car had been designed as such, that alone would for many make it more appealing than its competitors. However as an every day car, if you have tried climbing into the driving seat of an F1 you understand why they opted for the simpler 2 seat configuration.

Can't be CGI - I don't think they would have gone to the trouble of adding all of the swirls into the paintwork (0:05). Amazing lack of attention to detail that you wouldn't expect from McLaren.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
