Does that make me weird? I did it three times using a Mk1 (facelift) Mondeo Estate in Dark Green... Worked better than you'd imagine it would with the bunting on - the rest of the time it doubled as a funeral car Nice - I'm really hoping you did something a bit trashy with all that boot space, like filling it entirely with helium ballons and then opening the rear hatch at the venue..... I still think a Clio might be a stretch too far....

Love the in-car phone - although it presumably would no longer work? Oy! My M5s got one of those!

my father had a 1998 XJ6 from around 2002 -2006
was a cracking car, all black with beige leather
really comfortable car and did around 28mpg
I remember getting picked up from school in it and people always stopped and stared, and I went to quite a posh school, but it just had such presence

Superb! Likewise Riggers' return to superstar form; it's a bit like England losing 2-0 at home to Luxemburg one week and beating Germany 5-0 away the next. Riggers now has Icon Status in this house

V8Triumph said: If I only had £1000 to spend on a car, I'd be buying an XJ6. However, it'd probably be an XJ40. Great wafter - shedding at it's best. So many of these about that you can afford to be picky though and personally I'd choose any colour than black ... (or silver!) I would rather have an XJ40 too, I prefer them. It really is an excellent shed of the week though, tremendous value at this money and a lovely car.

Oh the 3.2 Jag XJ.
Had a Sov 3.2 and it got me and 3 mates to Salzburg twice, introduced us to the joys of unmarked German police Passats (W8's of course) and civilised waftability. Let my mate use it as a daily driver, his first car no less, and was well worth the 990 we paid for it.
A long wheel base version would be perfect, if I could afford the petrol. Oh the heady days, they will come again.
Top shed!

I can't read the LWB MPG meter, looks like 199?
I didn't know the XJRs had 'supercharged' on the tacho. Do the 6 cylinder XJRs have that on their tachometers too?

Excellent shed. My dad has a 3.2 Sovereign LWB of a similar vintage. He bought it when it was about 18 months old and in its 120,000 miles it has needed nothing other routine servicing, tyres and a battery. Still a joy to drive and a better quality interior than in my X308 Sovereign.

I never considered that but I loaned it to someone else (company car - insured for everyone, free petrol for everyone - MILK IT) and they did just that AND broke the tailgate doing it...

That is a seriously long car. I mean, is that even useable? Normal Jags tend to overhang parking bays, I can only imagine what a pain that would be to take to the supermarket...unless you are happy to park over two spaces near the back!
