Always liked the DZ, the G12 updated as modern road car sounds a lot of fun.
As to that 1 liter Ford how about a G15 updated.
Liking that too, pretty car, has a Dino-esque appeal. Would like that with chrome window frames ideally to complete the look, or failing that more fully dechromed. As to that 1 liter Ford how about a G15 updated.

Where's dandarez?, look forward to hearing his take on this.
Where did you get that pic of the G12?
That is at Snetterton 1966 with nurse (Maggie lookalike!) and (left) the late Mike Twite (ed. of Motoring News), Ivor and (late) Trevers Walklett. In the driving seat of Britain's first-ever mid-engine GT would have been Willie Green.
Can a new DARE bust in on the scene?
This forthcoming DARE's been on the go for some while, but then all DAREs (and Ginettas for that part) were a while coming.
Is there a better time to do it?
Lotus on the rack, Ginetta only just getting the G40R out.
Or is there no worse time to do it?
Such a choice and variety out there of good cars if you have £30k plus to spend.
If the new DARE is as good as it should be and is (importantly) sub £30k it will have a real chance imo.
Personally, the harking back to the retro look if that's the right term, is this the way to go? The DZ was an amazing car - few, me included, were privileged to drive one. The popular motoring press ruined its chances with its unfair damning with feint praise, while the specialist car press raved about it. A 'larger' DZ would have had me looking for the money! It really was a amazing car, so ahead of its time.
Great memories. From flashing drivers with those superb pop 'out' headlights and overtaking a Lotus 340R on the M40!

Not the Deep Sanderson? Can't be the first 301 of 1961 because that was never in production as such. The 'perfume wagon' as it was cruely named was written off.
The 301 'Coupe' (not a 'GT') was built but can be counted on one hand and went abroad. Its Mini Cooper engine was not mid, but rear, a similar argument put many times about the G12 (until you look at the configuration and see the G12 is 'truly mid' engined.
The 301 then lay dormant until shown again at the Racing Car Show of 1967 (by which time the G12 had been launched and available in 1966 and became a real success). Nothing happened much from thereon with Deep Sanderson which lay idle until it became the 302 and Lawrence once again attempted Le Mans and failed except for being the last British car running. By 1969 the 303 was 'mid' mounted with its Martin V8, again its intention was Le Mans but failed to get an entry.

Who is the G40 going to appeal to?
Its quite clear that a Dare would be a direct competitor in this small sector.
Anyone considering a G40 should naturally consider a Dare, especially since the package is quite an attractive one. The G12 was very successful in its debut years of racing, and an updated G12 drawing on the pegigree and design principle is a great idea.
I expect there to be a number of configurations and options which will enable the new car to have a broader appeal, and flexible pricing
Its intersting to note the DZ was originally planned to be a group C inspired racer (note the windscreen shape)

Maybe ? but LNT did not make their money in the car industry ' they just spend it there ' a lot "
They borrowed it to expand on a small care home business and based the massive debt expansion on a model of local authority payments per pensioner and smart accounting. With LAs cutting what they pay per unit then margins have been hammered. Hopefully still greater than the debt financing.
Previous revenues from the group business were then invested in non yielding automotive activities.
It's the leverage model that has seen many good but over geared businesses carried out since 2007 and with the govt cuts not yet formally being done until 2014 then respite for a leverage model that relies on yield from the state it's going to get tougher before it gets easier.
Personally, that's why I suspect the road car project has been so heavily delayed. It ticks over on the Motorsport revenue but with nothing spare to invest in a significant rollout on the road division. So doing the right thing and holding tight for the time being.
Always thought that if Morgan can make a good living out of retro 1930s roadsters then another company could do the same out of retro 1060s sportscars.
Light weight, high power to weight and mid engined - should be fabulous.
Edit: Ahem... that should have been 1960s sportscars
