Imp engine and ford 3 pot have certain similarities, i.e. lovely engines in fairly ordinary cars, great base for a sports car. Looking forward to this, good luck to those involved.

Pointy-nosed cars with enclosed cockpits never look good. Don't do it guys!! Though I must say I've been itching to try out that Ford 1-litre engine in a nice light chassis.
What I would like to know is, where can I get a new windscreen and bodyshell for my G15? I can't seem to find a source of spare parts for these cars anywhere.

Though sold it on at a premium on delivery  In the late 80's I was working alongside the industrial unit in Harlow where they were being made. I really thought Panther were launching a genuine Esprit rival that would be a big hit. It was a shame when things went pear shaped and fibreglass body shells were left abandoned in the car park.

The main problem is that the original molds are still property of Ginetta Cars. For a couple of years they have been at Ginetta Heritage so you could ask them to build spare parts on demand, but now that GH is no more in business, the molds are back in the LNT sheds... About the windscreen, have a look at this thread, maybe it could help; last year Chris (kudos to him!) made an excellent work in organizing a group buy from Uroglas Ltd.

I think putting that photograph of the DZ in the article was pretty counterproductive, given how many PHers appear to read mostly by looking at the pictures.
"The new car will move away from the radical DZ (no longer made) and instead reference the traditional styling most associated with the pretty Ginettas of the 1960s"

And they really aren't worth very much anymore. My brother loved them at the time but is too scared to consider getting one, I should see if any are listed as being run by PH'ers on here.

Did you see a yellow one being loaded onto a transporter with a few people outside and a bit of a hoohaa? Number 7 if memory serves me right. Concept was great factory and production engineering was not.

Mid ...but nowhere near first. Idea was muted some years earlier but car didn't appear until the 66 Racing Car Show and was nowhere near ready. A year later it was still riddled with problems and supply of parts. Much was sub-contracted, even the bodies. Ginetta were different - they made almost everything and built in-house.

As it erked some, me posting pics of the DZ (which showcased the Walklett's talent), here are a few G12.    The Elise was in some part influenced by the G12 apparently... I didn't say that, it's according to Tipler's book.

Nonetheless, I was lucky enough to drive one and chrise it was one hell of a car to drive. Let's move on.
