Ha ha! A fake car, with a fake sponsor's livery to make it look like a fake racing car and it's no good, so the builder wants to sell it so that he can have another go at building another fake car
Why would anyone pay thirty four grand for that??

Our of interest, why do you think you are the only person in 5 pages that has said that or thinks that? Why would anyone pay thirty four grand for that??

I know you are just trolling,so Im not actually directing this at you as I don't want to disturb your breastfeeding, but there is an interesting side-question to all this:
Why are certain replicas considered to be completely credible cars eg: Hawk Stratos, various Cobra Replicas, Chesil Speedster (arguable), and yet if someone came on here having created a replica Ferarri/Lamborghini of some kind, they would quite rightly get ripped to shreds.
Whats the difference?

Great job on the build, it looks (and doubtless sounds) fabulous! However having seen Clarkson squeezing in and struggling to drive it (very SWB, silly small cockpit, duff brakes, crazy steering) I concluded you would have to be a tiny rally driving guru to unleash even a road 3 litre version of it. Maybe that's what explains the 1000 mile total?
Do. Not. Go. There. With. Clarkson. And. That. Episode!!!!!!!!!I'll take this opportunity to promote the Strato's Enthusiasts' Club and its forum. For those iterested in learning more about these cars - and the originals.

You could easily find a good, interesting car for thirty grand and still have four thousand left for repairs and maintenance Just have a look in the classifieds.
I certainly wouldn't buy any car from a dealer that sells this sort of thing
Have you been a t.w.a.t all your life, or did you come to it recently? Why would anyone pay thirty four grand for that??

And another one from the SEC
This time a recreation of the original, non-spoiler car.

In defense of that episode that's what bewitched me with these cars, I had no idea Stratos reps existed in kit form before that! All the crap about wayward steering and duff brakes was just tinsel, even if the kit was like that (it obviously isn't) it can all be sorted by someone competent enough to build a kit car.
That episode. I think any car enthusiast would have quickly tossed Mr Clarksons comments in the bin. Sounds amazing. Looks amazing. Couldn't give a toss about anything said, I'd happily have the shell of a car like that sitting in my garage just to look at.I'm probably alone, but I think the new ones based on the ferrari 360/430 were a poor effort to re-create the brilliance of the original car. I'm glad they put the kybosh on them.

I wonder how good the engine sounds, given its the busso v6? I remember the one on Top Gear sounded amazing when on its lap.
The Alfa engine sounds pretty good, with 24v even better than 12v (I've had both). Neither as magic as that original Dino-based engine noise through the Welsh forests though Some idea of sound from outside the replica in this video clip of mine, but inside it sounds manic

Wow. Wow. Wow.
If I had to be picky, and it's just my humble opinion, I would have considered a different V6, perhaps the Ford 3.0 from the Mondeo/Jag. As sonorous as the Alfa lump is, I just don't think I could trust it. Probablies completely unfounded, but there you go.
Still, lovely lovely car.
Insane. A Ford or Jag lump over an Italian V6? Put your straightjacket on please sir!;)If I had to be picky, and it's just my humble opinion, I would have considered a different V6, perhaps the Ford 3.0 from the Mondeo/Jag. Where'd you get that from, BSR? I've no idea how heavy my car is.
AH, I know what has happened.
Because I thought it was your car at first and read the 750 kg weight in the article. Its actually Gozzes.
I then read one of the links here to someone trying to get a 500bhp engine for a hawk. I read that thread and the hawk in there was aiming for 1150kg kerb wieght which is a huge uplift on Gozzes so I wondered where the difference was.
Is a lovely looking, well-built car though. All kudos to the owner

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
you all missed the ' in Strato's
don't ask why it's there, but it is.
I actually inserted the ' in the link the the SEC. I don't usually put it in just in case one of the Grammar Cops jumps on me and I'd have to explain why it's there. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

It is there because the car "belongs to Strato", It is "Strato's car". I've got a copy of an email sent from Bertone to SEC member Dave Watson explaining how it came about, somewhere.
But, I can't be bothered to dig it out.

I think its all to do with the availablility of the Original Vehicle... they arent making any more P4s, stratos etc.... and originals are only for the extremely wealthy.I know you are just trolling,so Im not actually directing this at you as I don't want to disturb your breastfeeding, but there is an interesting side-question to all this:

However building a 308 or 360 or replica from an MR2 and ending up costing more than you could buy the original car is just stupidity.

Isn't it the mechanical underpinnings? The Strato's(*) is mechanically the same as the original all the way down to the chassis, whereas most Ferrari/Lamborghini replicas are boggo standard machines like the MR2 with a new body on top.Whats the difference?
Love the way that poor old Monty has managed to make himself look like a grade one prat. Nice easy username to remember as well: Monty_zoomer - prat.
