Anyone know exactly what the 2 30-min sessions involve? Not 45 minutes talking and 15 minutes driving I hope!

Also, anyone know when this offer ends, and what the normal price will be?

Whilst I do like MBW enormously, and my lad loves the place, what is basically a dealership charging for what is essentially a test drive isn't so great.

Do the cars at brooklands have a passenger override brake?

I don't remember one being applied while I was driving an SL63 AMG around the place.

You wern't driving fast enough wink
I was driving fast enough to be on the edge of ABS kicking in at the end of the straight quite a few times. The instructors don't really hold you back.

The SLS days are a lot more expensive so I suspect it will be a bog standard C63 AMG....not that they are your average bog standard car!
Haven't done it but they seem to have a wide selection of all AMG's on the track at any one time C,E,CLS,SL even Cl's. In fact I would guess any 'ex-,management' AMG is likely to have spent a lot of time sideways at Brooklands. There's always a couple of SLS's around as well

Its the track aspect of it, though, to be fair. THe cost to them of having it driven on a track is pretty high.
Also, what kind of person goes to get a test drive on a car that they don't intend to buy?

I would imagine that if you showed a genuine purchase enquiry they would probably waive the fee.

o/t whats so good about MB world if its just a dealership?

Been twice to Brooklands to drive the AMGs and couldn't believe how hard they allowed you to push them, especially on the in-field circuit. Far far harder than you're allowed on 'supercar' driving days on circuits around the country.

We did very little talking other than setting the seat position before going out. The instructors get you to do stuff that shows what the cars can do. As a potential customer they gave me a 30 min track sessions for free (I've never paid a penny) - and this is far more than your conventional 'test drive'.

Although I've not paid to drive so far, I would do knowing what you're allowed to do - I was chucking the C63 Coupe around like a go kart through the corners before giving it full beans down the back straight, brake hard, stay to the left, turn in, on the juice..... just ace. £250 for an hour, regardless of which AMG it is seems good value IMO. After all it must cost £40 in fuel and at least that again in brake wear!

I don't agree that it's just a dealership. That's sort of like saying the nordschleife is just a road: it might be technically close to the mark but it misses the point by several hundred miles.

How many other dealerships do you know that encourage potential customers to drift around their skidpan, or blat around the track?

Oh it's not just a dealership.

But at heart, that's what it is. The museum, interactive shows, events, amg rides, rather nice restaurant and everything else do not take away from the role of the place - to sell cars.

Never??

250 seems great value to me if you are allowed to drive as fast as you like.

I think they sound like good value.
Ive done a supercar day and total driving time was very minimal in comparison for a lot more money.
SImilar with rally experiences.

Im quite tempted

ive done this
first you go do the straight, stop the car, then instructor tells you to floor it then when he taps the dashboard you are encouraged to stamp on the pedal so it was 0-95mph-0 .then slalom drive: thru cones as fast as you can

the instructor then shows you all the safety settings on the car, and shows how to drive on a track, from the passenger seat, and before you know it you are hitting a ton, braking hard, going sideways round the corners. 4 laps

then you go on the wetpan, and you are encouraged to drift sideways round it, first with safety settings on like anti skid, traction on. then you try and go sideways with all of it off

then more laps
i thought it was worth it
you cant do that driving on public road

The number of laps on the track isn't a fixed value (your post reads like you're limited to 4 or something).
If you want, you can stay on the track for half an hour.

i never knew you could choose to do 30mins on the circuit. the only downside to this is that you cannot overtake on the circuit

I did the SLS AMG package last year for my 40th. Well worth it.

50 minutes in E63 AMG Estate (although it could have been any of the other AMGs) and 5 laps in the SLS.

Very tempted by the Black series experience!

I was out in the car for an hour and chose to do about 20 minutes on the track, about 10 on the skidpan, a few minutes doing slalom/wet/dry/traction control stuff, and the rest back on the track.

There's a little challenge that a lot of the people were trying: do a full lap on the bumpstops of any of the cars on power oversteer round the skidpan. I just about managed it.
