Ahh.. ok... either way it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Got a bit of a soft spot for that era of Merc.. especially the ones with crushing performance.

Chicane-UK said: Is that an AMG Hammer? Nope, the Hammer was only 300E W124-based AFAIK, but with the engine out of the W126 560 SEC, and sometimes bored out to 6.0L That looks like an AMG widebody W126 though

This Difficult to explain why, but the level of want for the past 20 years has only increased.

I wanted this to be a real keeper, but I’m going to need the money to keep a roof over my head instead. That looks lovely and in the best colour, if only I had the money I'd have that off you being local. much you looking for it?

I haven’t decided yet … having enough trouble facing up to the idea that I’m probably going to have to let it go! I suppose ideally £7k, but will probably go a LOT lower for a quick sale. It’s far from a standard car (the vented front wings are unique, for example) and was pretty much top-spec to begin with.

Sadly out of my price range. there is a company up loch lomond way that i see a few 944s on when I'm looking buchananmotors.com, may be worth a call and see if they would be interested in buying it or selling it for you. I'm no way connected to them btw.

gowmonster said: buchananmotors.com They have a really, really bad reputation amongst 944 owners—be very careful if you ever do think about buying from them! Thanks for the thought anyway, very kind.

I remember working for an Alfa franchise, in the early 80s, and we were kept busy replacing bodypanels on these because of the demon rust, and the cars were less than a year old, Holes in the front edge of the bonnet and tops of the front wings, but did we have fun driving them on errands, garage exchanges etc. I was young and inexperienced in fast cars but these went like s**t off a shovel. Must be super rare to have an original one now!!
