Integra Type-R DC2.
The closest are probably the Toyobaru BRX/GT86 pair, but they are not as focussed and are RWD.

Baryonyx said: Vauxhall's luxury saloon died with the Omega and the Monaro is a poor imitation. That's a bit like saying that a Citroen Xsara is a poor imitation of a Traction Avant. In other words, they're marketed by the same company but that's the extent of it. The Monaro was never intended to be anything remotely approaching an Omega replacement (even if they do share the same front wings!). 4-door wafty barge saloon vs 2 door muscle-car-lite coupe??

Surely a close parallel to the ITR would be the Megane R26? Of course I don't object to RWD, it's just not "equivalent". Yes, I think you are right. The Megane R26R is the closest in spirit, but is not really a coupe and has a grunty turbo lump instead of the DC2's high-revving screamer. And is also no longer available! I ended up replacing mine with an Impreza P1, as I fancied a change.

Basically anything front engine, RWD, Small(ish) and cheap (think Mk1, Mk2 escort).
I hate all this FWD cr@p.

white_goodman said: The closest new cars in terms of performance and price would be Golf GTIs/Focus STs but these are just "normal" hatches therefore not quite so practical. Ford is doing an estate version of the new ST, and i can tell you a new focus estate is very practical, sadly mine putters along with half the horses of an ST under the bonnet.
