Audi A3 (8L) 2001

Complete and utter st. Never ever again.

Purchased at 56,000.

Numerous faults:

Water Pump (they all do that sir)
Coil Pack
Thermostat
Steering Rack
Gearbox
Dashboard died.

Loads more.

Overrated rebadged VW.

That's not unmuch like a MK4 VW Golf... so far coming up frequently as the real demon throughout this thread. VWs, Audis and Citroens seem to be the worst offenders.

Mondeo ST tdci. On paper the perfect car for me at the time. Got tempted by a cheap one that was rough on start up, we'll fix that before you get it sir. We've checked it sir and there's nothing wrong with it, just needs to warm up a bit... Ok I've got the inspection report, I'll buy it.

Back in 3 times as I just wasn't believing clouds of smoke and rough start up were right. Told every time it was fine. Didn't really mind much about the car but it felt like a ticking time bomb which soured the whole experience. Mpg was rarely above 40 and seat was uncomfortable.

Hindsight, should have paid a bit more and got a good one with Recaros but was delighted to get shot and change to a van and a 96 celica.

Volvo V70 T5

Thirsty, expensive parts, not quick, not a huge boot - totally overrated

Probably a bit soft after the 850r. Same thing happened t0o the Saab 9-5 Aero following the 9000 Aero.

Light blue.

Austin Allegro.

Estate.

Automatic!

Nuff said ;-)

Also an Alfa Romeo 156, fabulous car till it did what an Alfa is supposed to do and destroyed its engine on a German Autobahn. God I loved that car.
First post, hi all be gentle.

I can think of a few cars which are potentially 'really, really, really, really' ship.
In that case i would have to revise. Too many really's just looks really really daft.

MGTF 135, and I know I deserved a crap car for buying one of these. Bought as it had the same engine as my Caterham and fancied a cheap soft top for the summer. Things broke on a daily basis. New things broke during the test drive that I sold it on. Utter rubbish.

There's a guy on another thread saying MGs rock. I'm with you on this though. The only defence he had, quite reasonable, they are effin cheap.
