I used to drive a 6 wheeled RR fire engine occasionally, great fun although the roll was horrendous with full water tanks...

I like the look of that...but I think the price is silly. Personally I wouldn't give more than £4.5k

Eleven and a half grand!

Asides, here's one in the correct year 1981, with something you didn't see parked behind it everyday wink

If its spotless then these do fetch lots of money. But it needs to be the best of the best and the earlier the better.
Just hope it spreads to the later classics smile

What made me smile looking at the advert was this:

'Car will be fully serviced if asking price is raised.'

So, £11.5k and it needs a service - which will be on top. rolleyes

I had a four door two years ago, i loved everything about it, except the poor economy, 15mph at best, and slow performance, 3.5 efi.

The range rover classic is a car everyone should own, the noise, the smell of the old wood and leather. Easy to work on and just such a great vehicle!

Mine handled like a boat, infact it wasnt even that good, until i replaced shock absorber bushes and it was so much better.

Not quite...........

My Gosh, does appalling taste know no boundaries?
Maybe, but I want one. Can you imagine the 'fun' parking that at the local supermarket?

I'm not sure that "corners" is what early RRs do. In the couple I drove it was more a case of "steer a mean course" and hope you don't hit anything.

And 135 bhp ..... is that the most modest output from any V8? (stands back and waits for the deluge of suggestions)

sperm
When I lived in Boston in the early 90s I drove a 1977 Chevrolet Caprice Classic that had a 5.7 litre V8 that developed 170 hp (the same as a 2.0 litre diesel does today) or 30bhp/litre.

With it's three speed auto it was the most relaxing thing in the world to drive. I know it's a cliche but you pointed it in the general direction of travel, set it on it's way and corrected your course as made progress. As long as you had the right frame of mine it was relaxing to drive rather than fun.

But 30bhp/litre was pretty impressive. My 1977 was the first of the new smaller Caprices, the previous generation was a bigger car and the 5.7 V8 back then generated just 145bhp which is only 25bhp/litre.

There's is something cool and classy about these Range Rover Classics.

Although, I do prefer the looks of the 5 door models.

I satisfied my itch at the beginning of the year with a 1992 'K' Registration 3.9 Vogue in Trocadero Red, with 94kgenuine miles, full history, all old MOTs and LPG converted.

The V8 burble was lovely. You could tell it was a capable machine, designed for towing.

Interior switchgear was st though, and clearly just lifed from an 80's Metro!

It looked menacing, and there was a certain 'dodgyness' about it's character (Essex Boys, etc).

Took the plunge last year, after years of "do I" or "don't I" .... proud owner of a '93k 106k miles RR Classic 4.2 V8 LSE. If you have to ask about the economy, then you shouldn't be running one; just watching the bonnet rock from side to side when blipping the throttle stationary is enough to bring a smile to the face! driving

A chap two doors down from my parent's house has got a '93 'K' Reg 4.2 LSE, in Dark Grey, Black Leathers, etc.

Lovely car, like a living room in the back. It has sat on his drive now for over 5 years, just weathering away.

The engine is 100% spot on, but body has seen better days!

It is a beautifully functional design.

I like 60s 911s, 80s Pandas, Renault 4s, Citroen DS and this.

I hate: X6s, Q7s and Evoques as they are not functional, they are fashionable.

I'd like one of these. And I don't like 4x4s.

Yep, that's him!!!

I'm sure that the early ones that he sells are super rare and that the restored ones have had a lot of time and effort put into them BUT £75k for a CSK?

There are three to get, a tax exempt one (you will never get fully original, as seats dont exist), an In Vogue (if you can live with metallic silver blue) or a CSK.
All will rot, as only a land rover knows how, and all will need the engine replacing with a diesel (unless you want something to polish and waxoil)
Have a 1971 with a 300tdi in it, and it is so much better than a defender (a sadist designed that seating position)
Evoque is actually very similar in terms of size
