You know if you were properly brought up if you would rather have this than a 3 door Evoque (probably in 'Chav with a few quid' white) Über cool motor. Though for me I still prefer the late Softdash 5dr in Ardennes Green with the Tan leather

Well, rather I didn't have much choice.

I really had my heart set on avoiding this route but a couple of things changed my mind. Firstly, whoever I spoke to regards installing the AJV8 unit it was a lot of work and required the cutting of bulkheads and other changes. One of my criteria is that I want to be able to convert the car back to original if I choose to, I have absolutely everything needed to build it as a 1972 RR as it left the factory (it's taken 4 years to collect all the right parts). Secondly, I came to terms with the difference between the LS3 unit and the 5.7 that Overfinch used, the difference is light and day as many claimed.

It will also be a much less expensive solution.

I'm still mapping out the project so it can all be done as efficiently as possible and hopefully will start next summer but I have decided not to start another project until the Typhon is complete as I barely have the time for that at the moment.

Sure Range Rover did a limited run of Anniversary 3 doors in the early 90s as well, remember my Dad going to look at one when i was a kid.

If the 90s it was probably the CSK.

They kept making 2 doors for export up until the end as I think in some markets they got a tax break for being a coupe?

Before the CSK there was the Olympic but I think only a few were built and it was never launched as a product.

Just seen an old episode of "The Professionals" and they had one on there as a military fire engine(?).

A couple have been up for sale recently. One was an airfield tender and the other was a private one down in Portugal.

I recently spoke to my Rangie chap about this as I found myself tempted but he alluded to the fact that they never worked well on the road as the rear wheels fought each other. Best left in the desert and highlands was the advice I was given.

Anyone commuting from Leamington station will see an early 70's Range Rover regularly, it's absolute stock as well. Further down the line at Aynho junction is a clean Carmichael version I'm pretty sure it could be had in 6x4 form.

I have wanted one of these since I was a little boy and had the Dinky Toys version. Brown civvy model, police traffic car, ambulance and a fire chiefs car.

20 years ago my late Dad toyed with getting a nearly new Vogue SE, but stuck with new Volvos.

I love these classic Rangeys.

So why oh why when I had the cash in my pocket (Debit card actually) bottle out of a Cyprus/Ardennes Green Vogue SE.

Maybe six years ago, it was up for sale at a little dealers. A bit tatty outside but nothing a few hundred in a body shop would not have sorted. Lovely interior, great service history.

A dream car for about a grand, and the dealer told me he'd take a bit less if I pushed.

Tax and a long MOT. I even had wife approval. She actually thought it would be a fun 3rd car.

I got a stupid, stupid attack of nerves. Chassis rot, tailgate rot, sagging headlining, all those little Range Rover quirks (which were not really a problem in this car) got me worried and I bottled it.

To be honest 11.5k is not too bad, these are really starting to go up fast, there are so few god ones left.

Good 4 dr's with history and low miles are £25k + at the moment

I have wanted a stock vogue se in westminster since about 1991, eventually got one 2 owners 63k ( needs a little work but not too much) not worth 25k … yet !!!
