I don't think so. UK Atoms are around 660kg according to every source I've seen - so unless moving the steering into the wrong place somehow saves a LOT of weight, someone is fibbing here. Even sans-fluids isn't going to save THAT much weight - are American kilos bigger?

CDP said: That's a good point. I can't imagine an Atom has a big fuel tank. I wonder how many laps of a power circuit like Silverstone GP or Spa this could manage before it's empty? I'd be amazed if I lasted long enough on a circuit to empty the fuel tank.

Speaking of range... sorry to be a boring old sod, but what will a 700bhp 2.0 twinblown engine do on a track, 5-10MPG?
Can't imagine it's got a big tank for such a tiny car - would it be actually capable of a 'ring lap for example?

After some digging , the turbo is turned up to 2.3 bar .When that comes on boost surely it has to be more violent than Rita at alton towers .

MrWhippy said: Since when has a GT30 been capable of flowing the air for 700BHP?? GT30's... Never, but they're using a GTX which is rated to 650 if I remember rightly. Some people have done over 700 on them so it's entirely possible. Haven't got a compressor map to hand to see what they flow be it efficient or not but it's totally possible. Would have thought running at the upper limits of efficiency would be the last thing they'd want to do though!

oooh that power to weight and said: a 2.0-litre Ecotec General Motors engine. So far, so dull, you might say. But this engine is supercharged to begin with, and DDM adds a Garrett GTX 3076 turbo does that also means that you tune a VX220 or the lotus Europa that way? those also use a GM Ecotec or is that different... 700hp is mental the 450hp setting would save the engine and his/her driver a bit I guess.

Be interested to see it in action, suspect it needs drag tyres and a whacking great wing for downforce to use all of that power off the line. How long before some nut will do a 1000bhp one and claim 2000bhp/tonne.

Best looking Atom. Have the stupid wings of the V8. Sod the power, just make one that looks like that!

The V220 2.2 will have the same basic engine design yes, but I'd guess this is based upon the 'LSJ' 2.0 motor (supercharged) which is popular over in the States. The same basic 2.0L engine is used with a turbo in Vauxhalls and SAABs over here too. The Europa and the turbo VX220 use a different engine.

I wonder if the acceleration will be that much better than the "regular" atom with those tiny rear wheels..Or if ut just will result in more frequent tyre change . For that kind of power they should have had something like 300 wide at least.

Although saying that I can't imagine it will be long before you hit the speeds that necessitate a wing... or several!
